Tinah Feylin

I made a point of watching the season premier of Saturday Night Live, in hopes they'd come up with a great campaign zinger like in the days of old when you could count on them to do that. Of course, Amy Poeler has been playing Hillary for months now and has been funny doing so. But there was nothing like the opening skit with Tina Fey as Sarah Palin. Her comedic genius amazes me.

However, as much as I loved the skit and would adore seeing more of her as the guv, I worry about Fey re-joining SNL to play Palin. I fear people would vote for McCain-Palin just to ensure that they'd have four hysterical years of Tinah Feylin (I coined that derivative just now and it's pretty funny, if I say so myself!).

Yeah, John Culshaw (UK Impressionist - "DeadRingers") as Tony (concerned face) Blair was so responsible for four extra years of Labour!

We used to have a program called Spitting Image where puppetts were voiced by impressionists - they did famous politicians as slugs etc.

Sadly UK humour seems very apolitical at the moment - which is a shame as Gordon Brown is a man severely in need of a sense of humour

Tinah Feylin.....clever! Cody and I watched the skit last night, and we cracked up. It was pretty dang funny :) I am amazed at how closely she resembles Palin......in looks AND character, haha.

DFTP,
Politicians as slugs...I actually remember reading about that. I'm surprised something that innovative would go off the air! I am worried now given what you've said about The Culshaw Effect!

WW,
Glad you got a kick out of the name and especially out of the skit. :)
Your second comment came in first and that's why it's published. I think I had a hiccup here!

Lydia - it went off air for a couple of reasons: the people behind the puppets (Fluck and Law - no kidding) fell out, ratings were down and ultimately ITV got tired of being sued!

I think also the TV company that had the rights lost its licence - a lot of really good programmes got the chop when that happened

Hi Lydia

I live in France and made a point of watching this sketch on the net. It was so very funny. I loved that line about, "I can see Russia from the place where I live."

I agree with DFTP too. We could definitely use some good political humour in Britain now. I loved Spitting Image!

She's got the look and the accent down pat, it's true. Let's hope that there is no need for Tinah Feylin (hah!) after the election.

DFTP,
Sounds somewhat familiar. Some of my favorite shows have been cut; I must be out of step with the mainstream at times.

Geoffrey,
I feel like I've missed out on a really entertaining show, given how you and DFTP both rave! Hope you stop by again...

Jennifer,
I hate it when my replies cross with someone's comment, like just happened with yours.
Yes, let's hope!
