meditation on isolation

"MitchellRose.com & BodyVox Dance Co. present Modern Daydreams, a suite of four Chaplinesque films. In this episode, four people weave fifty feet in the air atop four cherry-pickers, aloft and aloof in their ivory towers."

BodyVox Dance Company is an award-winning dance troupe from Portland, Oregon. Mike and I have been fortunate to see them dance in Portland Opera's performance of Carmina Burana (twice, actually, and once on a simpler stage with piano).

More about the film Modern Daydreams by Mitchell Rose here. It includes the following biography
:
Prior to becoming a filmmaker, Mitchell Rose was a New York-based choreographer and performance artist specializing in comedic work, and dubbed "the dance world's Woody Allen" by The New York Times. Eventually he was drawn more to visual media where he could reach a broader audience on a more emotional level and disbanded his company to become a Directing Fellow at the American Film Institute. His films have now won a total of thirty-four awards in film festivals including "Elevator World" which won the Grand Prize for Best Short at Slamdance 2000.

Lydia, that's great! Ballet in the air, and touching, too.

Music, creativity and dance- this video combine three of my passions in life. At first I watched and laughed, I thought it would be a silly little stunt but then I payed attention to everyone form and I had felt chills. It was beautiful and somehow spiritual. I wonder if anyone else got such a powerful experience form watching the video.

I would like to put up a link to this entry on my new post about discouragement. I think the picture is worth a thousand words.

@Steve- Glad you enjoyed. The multiple cherry pickers caught my eye also. :)

@secret, fragile skies- Thanks much and I'm happy you liked it!
Thanks for the heads-up on the other post....I left you a comment at your blog. :)

@Francessa- Yes, it is creative, graceful, and - you said it - touching. :)

@Tamara- Oh, I'm so glad you took it to heart as you did. It affected me in a similarly deep way.
Of course a link at your blog is ideal.

@Acolyte Tao- Namaste to my friend who calls them as he sees them! :)

@Distracted- Yup, the concept is wonderful.
Your comment reminded me of my mother taking my sis and me on the Ferris Wheel at the state fair, in spite of her utter fear of heights. What did she do? Instilled (or perhaps strengthened) it in me by repeatedly saying: Don't look down girls, don't look down! :)

@Adam- I enjoyed your observation about the nature and space as a part of this.
Oh, yes, I told Mike about the blog after I'd had it going for about two months. He's a regular weekend reader. :)

@Sarah Sofia- What's fun about your blogs is that each one is different so I can hop around and land on one depending upon my particular mood (or need). The surroundings you communicate with sure look beautiful, undoubtedly assuring that you too will have a nice week!

@Buddha- I agree with you, most definitely! :)
