some people have cats and go on to lead normal lives *

Here it is folks, Installment #2 of some people have cats and go on to lead normal lives.

Installment #1 introduced you to Willow (the lighter gray cat here, the one with the tiny beard) when she was around three-months old. I took this video a few weeks ago and it effectively serves as the six-month-old marker for Willow.

There by the fire with her is Shiva, who has grown terribly fat in her first year-and-couple-months of life with us. I have her on a diet, but it's difficult to adjust and monitor feed for three indoor cats: Feather, a senior citizen at age 13, fat Shiva, and kitten Willow (video of Feather to come in near future).

You may have missed Shiva Lullaby's story and clip of her first night home, this post.

Since this post concerns cats I won't go into any detail about Abby, shown briefly in the video. Suffice to say that life is good..........

Lydia,

I'm not even a cat person, but you have made me love your cats. :0)

Just letting you know I "Officially" moved into my new place (apartment) on April 1st...lots to do and pretty wiped out but I am just so relieved so happy and feel so very blessed..Hooray!..Freedom, space, independence "once again"...

Hope your doing well..

@Erin- It's really special for you to tell me that! ^.^

@Rhi- SO good to hear from you. I've thought about you and your move many times over the last few weeks and I'm glad to hear that in are settling in. You know, I read in a way-earlier post about you and Lizzie being homeless and I have wondered and worried if you were able to keep her. I think it's phenomenal all that you two have been through together! I'm so happy for both of you. ^.^

A grey bearded cat would go well in a "Cats Tha Look Like Gandalf" web site. However, last time I looked, they only had one for cats that looked like Hitler.

My youngest granddaughter has a cat named Shade and I just visited him. Their dog, Hans, loved me almost to death, but Shade was wary. He would smell my hands, but if I tried to pet him he would bat at me. The difference in the personalities of the two animals is striking.

@dmarks- Good one! There is a hitler look-a-like cat in my neighborhood, poor little depraved screaming thing.

@Darlene- Looks like you are home from your travels, and sounds like you had some fun with Hans - and not so much with Shade (that is a great name for a cat!). I'm pretty sure you had fun with your family, too. :)

Our cat Fred is very jealous.

You can tell the good weather is here (for now) as i barely saw my two all day yesterday - except that i locked up and went for a half-hour walk and came back to find the one sitting outside the front door wanting in.

So of course the second i opened the back door again (having let him in) he was back out in the garden...

Cats are great :)

Lovely and soothing for all us cat-lovers (and some who can be "brought over" I notice here). We had Hazel, looked just like Shiva, who made a great adjustment to NYC apartment and only indoor life.

Such sweet angel faces. I just want to pinch their little cheeks...but then they would bite me hard on my hands. Don't tell me I don't learn from experience.

Lydia said...

@Hattie- Is Fred a single cat? Would he be jealous of the companionship of a fellow feline? O, maybe he's jealous because you haven't featured him in a post lately..... :)

@DFTP- The open windows are intoxicating to mine indoors, too. And the "garage cats" aren't begging at the back door to come inside since the sunny days. But it's supposed to rain on Easter :(

@Naomi- You said "had" Hazel...does this mean she is no longer alive? Was/is she overweight like Shiva? Everything about Shiva is cuddly, so I can imagine how great Hazel was/is.

@Distracted- Um, I think most cats would prefer not to be pinched on their little cheeks. An exception would, however, be Shiva. Even her vet did that at her annual exam, saying "oooh, yer just so CUTE!"

Beautiful kitties. I love the beard (and I don't think Shiva looks overly large -- isn't that all fur?? :) )

I keep on thinking about what life would be like with a kitten or two around again. Our two are old and skinny and calm. I hope they live a long time.

Beautiful cats :)

@Jennifer- Shiva is strutting her stuff since I told her that someone thinks she is all fur. (14# and all tummy.)
I hope your two live a long time too. Feather is still young-acting at 13, and she definitely misses the love of her life who left us two years ago. I still miss him terribly....

@Di- They really are, and each in her own way. Have thought of your recent trip to Italy in the wake of the sadness and destruction there.

Lovely creatures, and those observant eyes! Makes you wonder what they think about our doings ..

Lydia said...

@Francessa- Thanks so much for complimenting them. I think that they are happy when our doings are about them and I do wonder what they think about the doings that don't in any way relate to their importance in the universe. :)
