Auntie Meme

Some weeks ago I was honored with this award. I have forgotten who was kind enough to give it to me and have scrolled through dozens of my posts to speed-read through comments to see if one might joggle my memory. To no avail. From this, I have learned a lesson and I will remember what it is. I hope.

So, to the blogger who awarded me with the One Lovely Blog Award feel free to remind me who you are. As I don't know the particular requirements to giving this one away, and because I have another long meme to follow here, I will bestow the One Lovely Blog Award to ONE lovely blog: Beth Niquette Fine Art. Take a scroll down her main page and fall in love with her cloud paintings and drawings.

Now, on to the mame . . . er, meme ..... and I do remember who tagged me for this one. It was THE WATERCATS & ALL THE THINGS.

Here are the rules:

respond and rework
answer questions on your blog

replace one question

tag eight other people
.

TAGGED BLOGS:

Darlene's Hodgepodge
Simple Living Concepts
Classical Calling
Life in the Second Half
Looking to the Sun and Stars
Francessa's Thinking
My Writing Life
Hattie's Web

Personally, I think The Rules should be altered in this meme and that tagging eight blogs should be reduced to perhaps three blogs. Feel free to do so! With similar reading circles, and recently-given awards, etc., I find the multiplication factor to this rather mind-boggling! If you've already been tagged for this meme or simply don't have the time or inclination to be a part of this one please don't give it another thought. Just enjoy the video clip above, and feel sorry for my brain as I work out the answers to questions below. . .

1. If one song were to describe your life, what song would it be?
American Tune, by Simon and Garfunkel

2. Which item of clothing do you wear most?
Jeans. I really must put a dress on again some day. Not this day, but some day.

3. What's for dinner?
Actually, I plan on trying the Dill-Cabbage Soup recipe that I posted earlier this month. We love a certain whole-grain loaf from a local grocer and there will be a salad of some kind. (I'm writing this at 4:30 a.m. and it's strange to consider dinner at this hour.)

4. Last thing you bought?
Keeping it pretty simple around here lately. Groceries. That's it.

5. What are you listening to?
Kink.fm in Portland (listen live) is playing a song by Michael Franti and Spearhead titled Hey World (Don't Give Up version). It was recorded in Jamaica. Here's the video:

6. If you were a God or a Goddess, who would you be?
As fate would have it just last night I took a quiz at Facebook that gave me my Egyptian God or Goddess name. It is Bastet, the Cat Goddess, patron of cats, women, and protection. I was not at all surprised by the answer.

7. Favourite holiday spots?
The Oregon coast. Unless you're talking about Thanksgiving and Christmas, in which case "there's no place like home for the holidays."

8. Reading right now?
A TAOIST POLITICS: The Case for Sacredness, by Deena Stryker. She is brilliant. Her blog OtherJones is right there in my "Enchanters" blogroll, and for good reason.

9. Favourite film?
It is a pure tie between Julia and Reds.

10. Okay, what were you thinking about just then?
I hate the sound my computer makes when the AVG scan is running.....as it is right now.

11. First spring thing?
Open all the windows. Ignore how each needs to be washed and enjoy the fresh air in the house.

12. Funniest thing you saw in your life?
Was watching a movie with my mother at her house. Mid-1980s, which means she was around 70 and a bit prone to dozing off in her recliner. She was always an active sleeper-dreamer (I'm glad I didn't inherit her inclination for occasional sleepwalking). I was engrossed in the movie when I heard her repeatedly asking me.....in a very muffled tone.....How do I look? How do I look? I turned in my chair to look at her and found her turned in my direction. Her eyes were tightly closed and her top teeth were bucked out and over her lower lip. I instantly roared, which woke her up. As she came to she began to laugh and tell me that she dreamed she was a WALRUS and was so proud of her amazing tusks that she wanted everyone to notice and compliment them! And, no, I never let her forget the episode.

13. Who's your hero/heroine?
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

14. Share some wisdom?
Auntie Mame: Yes! Live! Life's a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death!

15. If you were a tree, what tree would you be and why?
Sequoia, Giant. I live with three of them. They seem to know me well and I don't think they would mind if I rooted myself among them.

16. Fictitious characters who made a lasting impression on you?
Larissa Feodorovna Guishar (later Antipova), Proust's unnamed hero-narrator, Hiawatha

17. 4 words to describe you?
moonbeam and nothing more.*

*(actual quote: "No, Virginia, there is no Auntie Mame, she is a distillation and a moonbeam and nothing more." - Patrick Dennis, author of Auntie Mame

Hi Lydia--Yep. It is the same meme. I loved reading your answers, and I can picture you as a patron god of cats and women. I think your suggestion of limiting the tagged blogs to 3 instead of 8 is more workable. Enjoy your day!

Thanks for the Tag, Lydia. Three sounds a much better number that eight so let's set a precedent!
Best wishes
Laurie

In tears after watching the Franti video. All those little kids coming up now: what will happen to them? Look at the mess they are inheriting.
I'll do the meme later this a.m.

Lydia, what a beautiful badge for Beth, very fitting. Congrats Beth :).
OK, I think I get this. I write down my answers to 16 questions and put in one of my own, then tag 3 people, thanks for making it three :) Sounds neat, thanks for tagging me, what an honor.
Loved your answers!

Thanks SO much for the award! You are such a darling! ((hugs))

You made my day special.

Our little one is out of the hospital and in recovery. She'll be there for the next six hours. The doctors say she is fine and will probably go home tonight if all goes well.

It's an odd thought that a child who's had heart surgery would be allowed to go home so soon! They surely do miracles these days! Thank you for your prayers!

Auntie Mame is one of my all-time favorite movies.

I decided not to tag anyone on the meme. It was fun to do, though.

Lydia, thanks for tagging me (I think ;-) .}

I will try to post this over the weekend but hope to cut the ones down to less than eight.

@Erin- I will definitely be by to read your responses to the meme before the weekend. Fondly, The Cat Goddess Bastet :)

@Laurie- You're welcome. I know I'll enjoy your answers.

@Hattie- Looking forward to reading yours. And I understand the decision not to tag.

@the watercats- I'm glad you liked the post. Thanks again, and happy Friday.

@Margo- It's nice to know your sense of humor is kindred with my own!

@Looking to the Stars- I'm pleased you liked my answers.....it's going to be fun to see yours.

@Beth- You deserve the award and new readers, most definitely.
I'm so happy for you that all is well with her. Sounds like she has the best doctors and care, but her resilience is amazing, too. :)

@Mibsy- Yes, blogging is fun. No one is timing you on meme completion!

@Kim- I saw some YouTube vids featuring Lucille Ball as Mame. Didn't work for me. Nothing like the original there.

@Darlene- As I mentioned to Mibsy, you are not being timed or graded on this meme. No pressure...none.
