the heart of today

Time by LynseySteinberg

In keeping with what I wrote in my previous post, and in light of the fact that today was a day that swept me along with the hours so there were few pauses for thought, and because I am going to endeavor to change my waking/sleeping cycle that has actually gotten out of hand and is negatively impacting my life......for those reasons and more I am going to shut off the computer earlier tonight than I have for months, a year, maybe more than a year.

I've already settled the dogs into their orthopedic beds in the laundry room and given them each a short massage. Michael is asleep. The kitties will probably settle down when I do, provided I first get down on the living room floor with the Cat Dancer toy that they expect to play with every night.

So I am not allowing myself to read the interesting posts that perch so tantalizingly in my sidebar and in my blog reading list. With apologies to you I will save them for another day. Instead, I am going to sit on my meditation pillow in front of the Christmas tree, that is still fresh and beautiful and twinkling for me a few more nights, and there I will attend to the concept that came to me yesterday. Although I have an idea what the answer is already, I will sit quietly to come to know the heart of this day that has nearly passed.

I've found myself turning the computer off more and more. Wanting/needing those moments of quiet serenity and contemplation.
I think the older I get the more I want to savor moments and string them along one after another into a delicate tapestry of my life.

May love and beauty follow you into this new decade sweet friend. (Hugs)Indigo

So you're going to give up the Atlantic Time Zone for the Pacific, Lydia? Good girl. I have no idea what the heart of the day could be, but I do believe it begins to get going with morning.

Peace.

and I have decided that I will take more time out for living, too.
But I have also seriously thought (and written) about blogging and bloggers and come to the conclusion that it is a good thing, in moderation.

@Indigo- Your comments here are always such treasures to me. I wanted you to know that!
Many blessings to you in this decade also.

@bfk- Yup, changing time zones is in the cards. It's not going to be easy. But I know you are right and I'm listening.

@Hattie- Lovely, and to you as well.

@Friko- O, I think blogging is a good thing also! I have no intention of stopping blogging. But your word "moderation" is key to the balance I need in my life.

I am staying up way too late, that's for sure. My computer is attached to my hip. I have found that I am reading other blogs less and less though and focusing on editing my photos and writing my own blog pieces. I do need to turn off the darned thing before 3am though...that would make a world of difference.

The clock picture is gorgeous!

That's funny, I did the exact same thing last night. I made myself a cup of warm milk, read for a short while and went to bed a few hours earlier than usual. Very good for the mind, body and soul.

@Kirby- Wow, I've had a night owl compatriot all along and didn't even realize you were out there on your computer in the middle of the night! I don't know how you stay up until 3:00a.m. and then go to work. Not good for you!
Last night I was in bed at 1:30 a.m. reading a book and I was awake enough to enjoy a full chapter! It was great. I still intend on reading posts from my reading list...but during the daytime. :)

@Ben- I wonder if maybe 2009 didn't psyche most of us out to the point that we've driven ourselves into exhaustion. There does seem to be a trend toward more sane self-care, which ultimately is taking care of others.
Happy New Year, Ben.

Love the artwork up there...so much so, in fact, that I would've stolen in for my New Year's Eve post if you'd put it up a couple day's earlier...ah well...I really oughtta turn off the computer, too...

@YogaforCynics- It really is a fantastic artwork. However, I liked what you had at your blog on NYE.

@Phivos- Your wonderful comment came through numerous times. Funny how that happens once in awhile.

I'm so glad you like this post and my blog!

Ah -- I thought I posted something here days ago. Well, I tried anyway and now I can't bring it back. So let me try again, in a more simple way: Happy New Year!

@Jennifer- It's frustrating when that happens! You know I wish you and your Happy New Year. :)
