Shiva Lullaby weighs efficiency of new furnace

I haven't written about Shiva Lullaby for awhile and this video I took last week will serve as an update. She is, um...shall we say, a big girl. Her annual exam and shots are due in March, at which time she will be weighed. A ballpark guess is that Shiva must weigh about 17 pounds. Since she shares the same food bowls as Feather (who is only 6.5 pounds at age 15) and Willow it is difficult to adjust her diet. I do feed them mostly Science Diet Light. It is just that Shiva spends much more time at the food bowl than the others. Obviously, I will discuss the problem of her obesity with the vet because it can lead to all sorts of future problems that I want to avoid. She is so unique and extremely special, and we want her around for a long, long time.

In this clip she is in the same spot as she was when I took her sleeping-kitten-portrait (there is also a shot of her at one-year-old at the link). Our old heat exchanger recently gave way, requiring our purchase of a new furnace. It is more efficient than the old one, by far. The heated forced air coming out of the vent is powerful and as you can see it is a big hit with Shiva.....

Aww...she's definitely a full-figured gal, but I suppose it may not be healthy. I have this issue with my dog, too. She especially fattens up in the winter since she is much less active. The video is charming!

"Baby It's Cold Outside" was the purrfect music!

Love the name "Shiva Lullaby"...she is a floofy and large girl! I feel her pain, always a chubby one in the bunch. Yes if you nip it (no pun intended, this time! lol) in the bud maybe she can lose a few pounds and maintain good health.

I do love how she rolled over on cue to show us her "belleh". What a dear and beautiful girl! So happy to see her!

I love cats, though I don't own one. I love when she flops over, like, okayyyyy, I'm done here lol.

Shiva looks like one of those amazing glamazon supermodels who stand in front of a wind machine so as to show off its mane. Gorgeousness!

mythopolis~ ". . .a full-figured gal" I have been chuckling about that all day long! Thanks. ^.^

Cat Chat~ "floofy" and "belleh" are words I have shared with Shiva and she approves. She is pleased you think she is beautiful and that you like her song choice. ^.^

Fireblossom~ I can see you with a great literary cat. There must be one in your future... ^.^

the watercats~ The fling-and-flop is a sort of salute to the watercats. She would flop-out to your music. ^.^

Belette Rouge~ Oh funny! Her fur is moving like models' hair does in photo shoots. Shiva approves of the words "glamazon" and "gorgeousness." ^.^

Jingle~ Yes, they are heart-warming, most definitely. And they warm laps and toes and anywhere else they wrap around. ^.^

Pixies~ Blimey, indeed! And hubba-hubba! She has much fat and lots of fur. She has never thrown up a fur ball, wonder of wonders. It is because her fur actually clumps and knots in place and I work with a special razor tool to free it. It has always been a problem for her, poor Shiva Lullaby.

oh Shiva is so hard to believa...
what a CAT! The flopping over in sheer bliss is too cute. I worry about our Lucy getting too heavy because she is a total indoor cat and I know she must get bored and just nosh for lack of a bird or mouse to chase. I just bought her a tower to climb-so maybe that will help. Very fun post.

Kathe~ Glad you enjoyed the post of entertaining Shiva. Like Lucy, she is an indoor-only cat. In her slimmer days she played and romped and still has her moments, but gets out of breath. Your idea of a tower is great, as there is a place to nap as a reward after exertion... ^.^
