Friday Flash 55 -- His Dear Martha

Andrea and Kirk were lifelong friends, separated by 2700 miles. Andrea was happily married, so she worried about Kirk’s divorce.......until he emailed about Martha.

Now his Facebook profile made Andrea smile! In a Relationship, it read.

Kirk described Martha as "perfect."

"She's playful, but she doesn’t play around. I totally trust her," he said.

I now share my life with the second Old English Sheepdog that Michael and I have owned.
You can view a short (.46) clip of Abby in her summer cut HERE -- and that post includes a link with the story about how we rescued her at age seven after our dear Woofles died.
And THIS POST shows a short (1.57) video of Abby and our chocolate Standard Poodle, Bonbon.

Well, uh, this is interesting. Old English Sheepdogs seem like such delightful creatures. I've never been close to one, but I've seen some running around with their lionlike manes, and heavy coats. They could make interesting playmates.
Now, as for Kirk. . . .

Thank you so much for the 55 Beatles!

Although I would HATE taking care of that coat,I think that a good choice was made. Besides you can always
modify the snarls with clippers! Thanks!

Anyone's best friend is their dog. Cute 55, and lovely picture.

Rob-bear~ Hmmm, as a result of your comments I added a little bit to the end of the post. There are links there to show you exactly what delightful creatures Old English Sheepdogs are. My favorite breed, I did get to have our first one, dear Woofles-now deceased- until adulthood after Michael and I bought our house.

Cad~ Ah, that is such a great old song!

izzy~ Please note that I added a piece to my post with info about our OES. Here is what people do not know: Old English Sheepdogs do not shed! Their fur is like hair, and yes, it does mat--but ours is groomed every four weeks. In the summers we have her shaved and then let it grow out in the autumn. By Christmas she is perfection under the tree!

Brian~ Such a beautiful dog, indeed. And the jolliest breed around, I think!

G-Man~ You are too kind. I love that you enjoy my 55s, but you please must know that I never would have thought to try flash fiction without you. Does this make you my muse?

Doctor FTSE~ My special cats have always been the best of friends along with my dogs. When we were looking at Old English Sheepdogs to rescue, our only demand was that the dog be good with cats. Abby (see new links added to the post) is a dream come true; she loves/checks on/grooms our cats!

Very clever indeed.

The painting is a beauty but so is your Abby rolling in the grass. There are some relationships that are far more satisfying than others.

A dog and a sense of humor will cure most heartaches.

Lydia said...

Monkey Man~ I appreciate that!

susan~ Abby is such a beauty, and a very satisfying soul to be around.
As for the painting: it is at ebay. I am very tempted to go fetch it!

Morning~ Evening. Thanks much.

avoidtheclap~ From your blog name I have no doubt that you understand what a sense of humor will cure. You are right about the dog, too. :)

Too cute!

When I little, the people across the street had one of these dogs, named Peepers. I used to go over there and ask to play with him.

Fireblossom said...

when i *was* little, that should say.

Lydia said...

Fireblossom~ When you little you were probably oftentimes too busy to use extra words! Peepers is a good name for an OES, especially when they are in their furry state. Kids love Old English Sheepdogs and vice versa!

way too cute.

Jingle~ That's sheepdogs for ya!
