Mag 96 -- look alikes

It is said that when two people
livetogether for many years
they grow to mirror one another, to
LOOK AlikeekilA KOOL.

The year Milly left she read
nothing but Sylvia Plath;
she secretly arranged for a
family reunion at Disneyland; and
she stopped looking at herself
in mirrors.

The day Milly left she wrote
a note to her husband
on back of the birthday picture
he took (HE SNAPPED):
I can no longer
live in your shadow,
and I refuse to be
your beard.

I looked at the picture and thought it resembled the mask worn by many in the "Occupy" movement.
Obviously I was wrong. Again.
But the writing — crafty as ever.
A blessed Christmas and joyous new year to you.

anthonynorth~ Thanks so much.

Muhammad Israr~ I agree. It is not, however, my preferred type of photo portrait.....too weird!

mythopolis~ Odds are not all get it. :)

izzy~ Ooh, I'm excited to see yours!

jane.healy~ Thanks much. :)

mylittlewordz~ I appreciate your mentioning the Plath ref., Jamie. Thank you.

Sheila~ Thank you. :) I will enjoy reading what you come up with on this old beard thing!

Brian~ Guess who I got the courage to try something like alikeekila from.... :) I so appreciate your discussing various things in the poem. Many thanks.

Helen~ Thank you, and congrats on the leaving when it was not right. Happy Holidays to you, too.

Deborah~ Why, thank you kindly!

jabblog~ 'Tis the season to be jolly and you are!

susan~ Thanks for your kind comment and special quote. Just for the fun of it, take a look at this tumblr page and see how many times the quote was "reblogged" after being posted there. SP's pull has the same power as ever...

Rob-bear~ It's OK, Bear. I see all sorts of interesting faces in the bathroom tile floor that amuse me no end. There's nothing wrong with either of us!
Merry Christmas to you, too.

Nice job on a strange ugly picture prompt.

Pondering over this. How to come out of the shadow and show your face?

Great insight into a tricky prompt.

Lydia this is awesome!!

Isabel Doyle~ No, I suppose not even Santa's beard! Thanks.

Fireblossom~ Appreciate that. And I agree: think this was my least favorite Magpie picture prompt.

Hattie~ Yes, and just imagine wearing a burka while in someone's shadow...darkness, darkness.

Doc FTSE~ Thank you. It really was tricky, wasn't it?

Kathe~ And I did not see the hat! <:)

ds~ Thanks for being here to root for her. :)

Carrie~ Your comment and your Christmas profile pic made me so happy! :) Thank you!

Very, very powerful photo. In my life-before would do phototherapy with clients. Looking at this one recalled one of young child with father's shadow, "He always took the pictures so have not photos of him except this."

HyperCRYPTICal~ Thank you, Anna. Happy you are happy!

naomi~ A new profile pic=nice! What a fascinating personal "aside" to the photo. I know you helped many in your life-before, as you inspire many now. :)
