Friday Flash 55 — Freeze frame

The last day of summer. by Peter Gnas

Splashes made by four and a dog —

Shining strands of flying orange

Mid-air drops of warm sun water

Soft white froth caressing brown skin —

Moment frozen in summer Time.

The place and space, a tail, each face —

Feeling a calling horizon

Unknowable in wondrous Now

Unbidden by those watching Then —

Sweet memory in sight flashes.

Written for Friday Flash 55 - My post in exactly 55 words - for the G-Man.

Not everything needs to be the most wonderful moment in the world. The ocean doesn't care about us at all. I love it for that reason.

Frozen in time —
the last jump
of summer's
exuberance.

Perhaps
to be reviewed
on a morning
frozen a different
way.

So much captured in a slit second, enough to last until next year.

the image and the pome could almost have been made for one another

Made me think of Enid Blyton's series of books - The Famous Five (four kids and a dog defeating pirates and scoundrels in early 20th century Britain)

hope~ It's nice to have such memories...especially since summer seems to go by faster each year.

kj~ Your comment nearly made me blush. :)

G-Man~ Many thanks for you encouraging comment. I'm so glad you are well and back hosting FF55.

Shakira~ Thanks; having all these wonderful writing prompts makes us all prolific writers! Have a great weekend.

hedgewitch~ Every kid needs a summer lake to remember. Thanks much.

mythopolis~ Interesting concept of the ocean!

Rob-bear~ Loved your poem comment. Thank you so much!

Brian~ I think it is sad that your kids start school in August. I really think it should be held off until after Labor Day so kids have a fuller summer vacation. But I know that you and your wife gave your boys a wonderful summer.

PattiKen~ Enough to last until next year....let's hope so.

Pixies~ Thanks. When I saw that image it just shouted "55" at me. :) I am not familiar with the Blyton series and wish I'd have read them when I was a kid. Sounds like a great plot line!
