Mag 153 — pheromones, honey

When a long-ago night holds on to life
and won't let go, treat it tenderly.

It still inhales the blue smoke in the room
and exhales invisible sparkling pheromones.

It still feels like squeezed-hot bodies.
Many were in the place that night —
drinking celebrations, sharing highs.

It still sounds like muffled-liquid voices.
Many groups connected in pods —
sounding see-me in a sea of faces.

But for one face it was any night,
but there was that face.

But for one smile the room was dark,
but there was that smile.

It still intoxicates to remember
that her stereo later played Tupelo Honey

as one of them whispered to the other,
"Teach me."

Written for The Mag: Mag 153 that inspired with the above photo prompt (AnOther by Charlotte Gainsbourg).

This is so evocative, Lydia. I love it. I wanted to write for this myself, as I like Charlotte Gainsbourg, but nothing came, for me. I love the lines starting with "but"...they make the poem. Beautiful.

PS--I think Brian is a vampire with 700 computers. Everywhere I go, there he is, with the first comment!

but I get your DRIFT!

some really evocotave language here - feels like you've found the quiet corner in the busy nightclub and singled out a stolen moment

On a less poetic note - have you noticed that nightclubs and parties in TV shows always, ALWAYS look fake

Brian~ Thank you for your appreciation. I think you are a wonder, and not a vampire (see Fireblossom's comments)....

Fireblossom~ Nothing came to me when I first looked at the image, then I saw the album with Tupelo on it and although it was not the Van Morrison song it rang familiar..When you love it I am a happy one. Thanks much.
Your observation of Brian's ability to be everywhere in the blogosphere seemingly at once is something I have pondered. Hell, I even emailed him awhile back asking him for tips on how to be so organized in the quantity and quality of his comments to us all. He didn't say so, but he must be superhuman. :)

izzy~ Yup, reminiscent indeed. I am anxious to see where you went with this prompt.

Pixies~ Thanks so much for your comment. Thanks, too, for still stopping by even though I'm taking a break from doing Old Postcard Wednesday posts. You're the best.
And, yes, those TV and movie parties are always so wrong they make me squirm, feel an embarrassment for the actors.

Helen~ WooHoo! Thank you so much!

Tess~ Aw, thank you, and thanks for continuing to find us such brilliant images for prompts.

So delightful, sensual, enthralling.

I'd say more, but my brain is not working. Or at least not very well.

Blessings and Bar hugs.
