Fairy time

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Faeries, come take me out of this dull world,
For I would ride with you upon the wind,
Run on top of the disheveled tide,
And dance upon the mountains like a flame!
- William Butler Yeats

We call them faerie. We don't believe in them. Our loss.

- Charles de Lint

Some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again.
- C.S. Lewis

Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world's more full of weeping than you can understand.
- William Butler Yeats

I wanted a detour from the realities of this week. The following short film by Kranti Kanade appealed to me, I'm not sure exactly why. It's an escape, but more than that. Seeing the delight on the faces of these people took me completely away from myself. Which is exactly the kind of detour I needed.

(Description at You Tube: A series of people from different countries and cultures are questioned with the most simple yet the most unlikely question: "Do you believe in Fairies?" They are surprised by their own answers.)

The iron tongue of midnight hath told twelve;
lovers to bed; 'tis almost fairy time.
- William Shakespeare

  1. Love this post, and what a sweet video. Such joy on their faces. Don't we all long to be in the presence of the faeries??

"If we shadows have offended, think but this, and all is mended. That you have but slumbered here, while these visions did appear, and this weak and idle theme, no more yielding but a dream. Gentles, do not reprehend. If you pardon, we will mend. Else the Puck a liar call. And so good night unto you all. Give me your hands, if we be friends, and Robin shall restore amends."--Puck
