Owen~ No, not the volcano. This is actually painting from the Hudson Valley School that I stored in drafts last year. Unfortunately, I did not note the painter, but I had kept the title, "Sunset in the Yosemite Valley" and the date painted is 1868. Just Googled it and the painter was Albert Bierstadt. Thanks for asking, Owen, as I will add the info to the post.
I love this painting it is spellbounding! Ever since a small child and still to this day and always...like Madam Marie Curie, I have thought the same thing about the beauty of nature...throughout my entire life, I have often felt it has saved my life during trying times.
Rhi~ I feel that the beauty of nature has saved, if not my life, my emotional well-being throughout my life. The painting is indeed wonderful and it makes me want to see Yosemite once in my lifetime. :)
BEGINNING IN 2014 I will reply to only occasional comments here, while appreciating every visit and all comments! My reason is to enable me to utilize that time to read and comment on your blog posts instead! If/when I get more organized I may later return to replying to comments here, but one of my New Years resolutions is to spend more time at your sites: reading, enjoying, learning! Thank you for understanding.
If your blog is associated with a Google+ account, I may not be able to visit you from your namelink. I do not wish to join Google+ and the site sometimes requires that I do so in order to read/comment on posts there.
Like a child Lydia, all children of this world... I am sure you get a lot of deep messages of our life...

How appropriate that Madame Curie found a way to make nature save so many lives!
