BEGINNING IN 2014 I will reply to only occasional comments here, while appreciating every visit and all comments! My reason is to enable me to utilize that time to read and comment on your blog posts instead! If/when I get more organized I may later return to replying to comments here, but one of my New Years resolutions is to spend more time at your sites: reading, enjoying, learning! ReplyDeleteThe last time I clearly saw the Milky Way? About a month ago when I was in KY. One night was especially clear and with the nearest small town 11 miles away, the sky was especially dark. I think I even saw a shooting star from out of the corner of my eye, but it was so quick...

ReplyDeleteAfter the death of one of my dearest cats I wrote a poem in which I likened her to a shooting star I saw after she was gone. I'll post that one of these days.
Some nights during the summer I could see the Milky Way above our house, but the best view is 14 miles away at Silver Falls State Park in this big clearing in the forest each August when they have the annual Star Party there. I've learned so much about the night sky from the amateur astronomers who come and set up their telescopes for all to use.

ReplyDelete@francessa- I grew up looking at the Sierra Nevadas, which is a beautiful mountain range.....but certainly nothing like the Alps that watched daily. How special to have this comment of yours following the beautiful video.
Ah, Lydia, the Sierra Nevadas, they sound so exotic and wonderful to me. I looked them up in Google pictures and they certainly rival the Alps.
