Timelapse movie: The Alps -- part II (night) from Michael Rissi on Vimeo.
A sky as pure as water bathed the stars and brought them out.

When was the last time you clearly saw the Milky Way?
BEGINNING IN 2014 I will reply to only occasional comments here, while appreciating every visit and all comments! My reason is to enable me to utilize that time to read and comment on your blog posts instead! If/when I get more organized I may later return to replying to comments here, but one of my New Years resolutions is to spend more time at your sites: reading, enjoying, learning! Thank you for understanding.
If your blog is associated with a Google+ account, I may not be able to visit you from your namelink. I do not wish to join Google+ and the site sometimes requires that I do so in order to read/comment on posts there.
Lovely video and beautiful Exupery quote! He's one of my favorites.

oh thank you Lydia!
ReplyDelete@nothingprofound- Happy you liked them. I'm only lightly familiar with his work and love this quote enough to learn more about him.
ReplyDelete@Evelyn- Thanks much. :) I'll post a topical postcard here on Wed. for your postcard festival. Hopefully, I will get through that submission form successfully!
@viridian- My pleasure. I gained a lot of peace watching this particular vimeo.
@Tabitha- :) That's funny...but being exhausted is not, so I hope you are able to rest this weekend.
@Maggie May- Isn't that a beautifully-produced vimeo? It is a gift to us all in the rush-rush of our lives right now.
That was gorgeous, Lydia. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThe last time I clearly saw the Milky Way? About a month ago when I was in KY. One night was especially clear and with the nearest small town 11 miles away, the sky was especially dark. I think I even saw a shooting star from out of the corner of my eye, but it was so quick...
Very informative and exquisite post. Have a great day dear Lydia!
ReplyDelete@earthtoholly- Thank you for telling me about your most recent viewing of the Milky Way. It must have been very peace-giving to you especially during that time in KY.
ReplyDeleteAfter the death of one of my dearest cats I wrote a poem in which I likened her to a shooting star I saw after she was gone. I'll post that one of these days.
Some nights during the summer I could see the Milky Way above our house, but the best view is 14 miles away at Silver Falls State Park in this big clearing in the forest each August when they have the annual Star Party there. I've learned so much about the night sky from the amateur astronomers who come and set up their telescopes for all to use.
@Phivos- Thank you, friend, and a great day to you also. :)
Oh, this is making my day, Lydia. Thanks for posting this!
ReplyDeleteLydia, the Alps-video is so beautiful! I grew up looking at all those mountains day in day out and I never got tired of watching them.
ReplyDelete@Erin- It made my day too. Just think what it was like to have Francessa's childhood! (comment below yours)
ReplyDelete@francessa- I grew up looking at the Sierra Nevadas, which is a beautiful mountain range.....but certainly nothing like the Alps that watched daily. How special to have this comment of yours following the beautiful video.
Ah, Lydia, the Sierra Nevadas, they sound so exotic and wonderful to me. I looked them up in Google pictures and they certainly rival the Alps.
ReplyDelete@francessa- O my! I never thought of the Sierras as even close to rivaling the Alps. You have just given them new stature in my estimation! Anyway, we both had magnificent mountains to raise us up.
