On Earth Day

The same stream of life that runs through my veins night and day runs through the world and dances in rhythmic measures.

It is the same life that shoots in joy through the dust of the earth in numberless blades of grass and breaks into tumultuous waves of leaves and flowers.

It is the same life that is rocked in the ocean-cradle of birth and of death, in ebb and in flow.

I feel my limbs are made glorious by the touch of this world of life. And my pride is from the life-throb of ages dancing in my blood this moment.

Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941) Indian poet, playwright and essayist;
won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1913.

    oh, this is so beautiful! what a beautiful expression of the pulse of life. One of my favorite yoga teachers does a workshop called "High Vibrations" that involves exactly this - tapping into the pulse of the universe (I think it's called spanda in Sanskrit).

    Thanks so much for sharing. This is exactly what I needed today :)

    Amber Lee~ That "High Vibrations" workshop sounds wonderful, right up my alley (if the alley wasn't hundreds of miles away!). I really loved the photo and the Tagore quote is one of his best, I think.
