Let's shampoo in this sink, I said.
After napping on a gracious bed
(used the comforter as a spread —
left the room wearing not a thread).
We entered a bath where stress was shed.
The space was hewn gray stone, wood red:
Wabi-sabi imperfection purebred.
When shadows nudged light fled —
Then shadows on stillness fed.

More on Wabi-sabi here.

between a nap...and bath...i would not mind a little of that pampering today myself....smiles.
ReplyDeleteKudos for incorporating Wabi-sabi into this piece. It's a 'beauty' concept of which more people should become aware.
ReplyDeleteI love the rhyme and concept- will have to investigate further! thanks-
ReplyDeleteVery evocative, Lydia. the repeated single rhyme is used gracefully and never gets old, and the cadence lulls and comforts, along with the clear and detailed imagery.
ReplyDeleteI love rhyme AND a story!
ReplyDeleteYou've given the proper balance of both.
Exquisite writing Lydia, thanks for this stellor effort.
Loved your "imperfect" 55
Always a class act My friend.
Have a Kick Ass Week-End
True beauty lies in imperfection ... love this Lydia!!
ReplyDeleteSexy poem, from the first perfect line that raises the expectations to the last that sets us down easy.
ReplyDeleteI want a bath like that. And the picture you chose complements the poem so nicely. Love it, Lydia!

Lydia- lovely words for a lovely time.
ReplyDeleteUsually, poetry gives me stress because I am trying to find the deeper hidden meaning behind everything. It gets to the point where it is not enjoyable because I subconsciously will not allow it to be.
ReplyDeleteBut THIS was beautiful and spoke right at me!
Kathe~ Many thanks.
ReplyDeletebrandi~ I am honored that this spoke right at you. Thank you so much for letting me know.
