I'm feeling solidarity with citizens around the world, people like Di Mackey, a native New Zealander based in Belgium, who are sharing their grave concern about the outcome of the race between McCain and Obama. In many ways they are more my kindreds than people in my own neighborhood with McCain signs in their yards (though so far the Obama signs outnumber them).

The bonds of shared citizenship snap and shred in the face of a common cause like global sanity. My brothers and sisters, heros and comrades, mentors and children are not necessarily those with whom I share a bloodline or a country. Just read Di's latest post titled I do apologise... and see if you don't feel a unique responsibility to make sure we get it right this time, for all of us.
