Fall Back

This video tells a bit about the history behind Daylight Saving Time, beginning with when the German government first fiddled with it during WWI.






This 1950s production was made by folks who obviously were opposed to fiddling with natural time.






This news clip explains the 2005 Energy Conservation Act and the way it fiddled with the dates we were accustomed to Springing Forward and Falling Back. The woman interviewed owns a clock shop. Imagine......

    I understand the rational of it but that is not enough to compensate for the pain in the butt the time change is!
    I wish they would leave it alone.

    We should go help that lady set her clocks forward this year, haha. What a job that must be. I'd leave them!

    Is it true that we are the only people to do the daylight savings time?

    I wish they would leave it alone, only because I forget every time. Fortunately, someone in my family usually calls to remind me. I did know the time was going to change on Friday (because there was a note on our internal website), but apparently I forgot again because when I saw your post, I was quite surprised!

    I tend to agree although I don't have a strong opinion. It's working out in my favor this weekend because my husband and I are canvassing for Obama-Biden this weekend and the extra hour of sleep will help the energy levels!

    I checked on an answer to your question because I had no idea and I found out that, "Today, approximately 70 countries utilize Daylight Saving Time in at least a portion of the country. Japan, India, and China are the only major industrialized countries that do not observe some form of daylight saving." Here's the link with the scoop:

    Don't you wonder who among your co-workers might have missed the message on the internal website plus the reminders elsewhere? I never screwed up on time changes when I was working, but I did show up for work once on a bona fide holiday and found the front doors locked. Felt like a real fool.... :)

BEGINNING IN 2014 I will reply to only occasional comments here, while appreciating every visit and all comments!
