Mag 84 -- Simple thanks



Thank you, God, for my little black crow,
For each drop of rain on this moss-covered rock,
For the roiling clouds and their blue inner glow
And the glimpse of horizon beyond the Loch.

    I like this little Wiccan prayer, if that's what it is. I like the opening line...a girl must always think of the creatures first! :-)

    Somehow, this reminded me, initially, of the Lady of Shalott. Don't ask me why. Bear's thinking is downright peculiar — even to me!
    There is nonetheless a sense of forlornness to this. Black, and wet, and cold. A good "nevermore" from the raven? (I don't think it's a crow; I think it's a raven.) I think so; yes, nevermore.
    But what does a Bear know about poetry? I'll just shake the rain out of my heavy coat and carry on.

    Fireblossom~ It's just a simple prayer...and the first line is based on something I have said since Willow was a wee kitten, that makes her quite pleased (Thank you God for my little gray kitty). ^.^

    Rob-bear~ Bears are lucky to be able to shake off the rain, most definitely. Crows (and ravens) also, but not to the same extent, as you can notice them taking shelter. Are humans the only ones who can decide to shutter themselves indoors or to be consider nutsy and run in the pouring rain? :)

    Brian~ Thank you for that...it is important to remember that we cannot always distinguish between them!

    I really quite love this poem/ prayer. On a separate note the picture is wonderful, for me it captures the allure and mystery of Woman. I've used a few similar to this in past posts, I've always been drawn to them.
