Friday Flash 55 -- 龙年

Jiao-long tattoed for weeks and was now frail. He would die soon.

Jiao-long promised Pu that the reward for her patience and bravery was the finest of dragons to be with her always: "Remember my taking you from behind, my hands caressing your shoulders, my soft whispers into your ear. It will be like that."

  5. This is lush and musical, and paints a very different canvas--the canvas of skin--with a potent symbol. Nice to see a creative and thoughtful 55 like this--as it's a demanding little form...but lots of depth here, Lydia. Liked it very much.

  6. Gadzooks (as I used to say in middle school)...it was not until I came to reply to your comments that I realized I had written: ...the reward for her patience and bravery would the finest of dragons... Nothing like an incomplete verb! I couldn't change it to "would be" because it would then be 56 words, so I altered it.

  7. Deborah~ My oh my...thank you!

Fireblossom~ My tiger (Chinese horoscope) is fierce enough for me. I was, however, interested to read that the Chinese consider the dragon to be a symbol of good will, unlike the western view of dragons.

G-Man~ Your comments ROCK every week. They keep me going, and I thank you. Am pleased you like this one so much. :)

    mythopolis~ I appreciate that.

Brian~ Thank you. This afternoon I was waiting for a dentist appointment and picked up a Nov. '11 Time, in which there was an article about the relevance and symbolism of tattoos to our returning veterans. The examples shown were fascinating (no dragons, though).

Kathe~ A horse would be a most excellent Chinese horoscope to have! Wasn't that horse just adorable?! What joy she expressed.

Sheila Moore~ Thanks, as that was my impression of the drawing.

hedgewitch~ Many thanks for your kind comments. Am wondering what Chinese horoscope character you are....
