Swamped on Old Postcard Wednesday

Swamped by kjb

There is the rare occasion that I wimp out on a regular Old Postcard Wednesday post.  I'm just a bit too swamped to do justice to any of the old postcards waiting in line, so I ask your indulgence in a bit of a divergence today.

While thinking about feeling swamped I thought it necessary to find a suitable image (above)......
which led me to finding a suitable quote......

Since the big band started I'm just always swamped with movies and things. It certainly pays the bills and it's very satisfying, because I get to write all these big charts and all this crazy music.

.....which led me to finding a suitable video......

I wish everyone a good mid-week pause in your own busy lives. Hope to see you here next week for OPW.

  1. Hey - you know that you don't need to fret if you can't always make OPW. Take whatever time you need

I'm not sure if it will help - but i found you the lyrics for the song "Swamp" by Talking Heads, a magnificently dark tune...

Now lemme tell you a story
The devil he has a plan
A bag a' bones in his pocket
    Got anything you want
    No dust and no rocks
    The whole thing is over
All these beauties in solid motion
All those beauties, gonna swallow you up

    Hi hi hi hi hi,
    One time too many
    Too far to go
I- We come to take you home

And when they split those atoms
    It's hotter than the sun
    Blood is a special substance
They gonna pray for that man

    So wake up young lovers
    The whole thing is over
    Watch but touch monkeys
All that blood, gonna swallow you whole

    Hi hi hi hi hi
    What's that? Who's driving?
    Where we goin'? Who knows?
I- We come to take you home

How many people do you think I am
    [| From: http://www.elyrics.net/read/t/talking-heads-lyrics/swamp-lyrics.html |]
    Pretend I am somebody else
You can pretend I'm and old millionaire
    A millionaire washing his hands
Rattle the bones, dreams that stick out
A medical chart on the wall
Soft violence and hands touch your throat
    Ev'ryone wants to explode

And when your hands get dirty
    Nobody knows you at all
Don't have a window to slip out of
    Lights on, nobody home

    Click click- see ya later
Beta beta- no time to rest
    Pika pika- risky business
All that blood, will never cover that mess.

    Hi hi hi hi hi
    So soft hard feelings
    What's that, who's driving
    No tricks lets go
I- We come to take you home
I- We come to take you home
    Hi hi hi hi hi
    etc.

  4. Swamp is such a powerful word when you think about it.

    The swamp is multi-sensory.
    You can smell swamp.
Feel it's wetness on your skin.
    Hear its oozing.
    It tastes very organic.
    Swamp doesn't just touch you,
    it sucks on you.
It is as though it wants you
    to be part of it.
    And it is quite foggy
    except
for the will o' the wisps
    that flare up
    now and then
    as ghostly blue fires.

I am in the swamp of my dog's dying. And tomorrow I must put her down. That is my current swamp.

  5. We're prepared to indulge you in whatever thoughts and visions you have. Even if it is a vision of guilt-free living, without doing an "OLd Postcard Wednesday."

There will be other Wednesdays. I hope.
