Friday Flash 55 — Perseids

The last time I saw a sky
sharing billions of stars in
the symphony of stardust
in concert with chaotic
perfection, I was
a solo tree.

That night, meteors tempted
my rootedness --
the earth around me
listened as I leaned
toward the diminuendo of
a dying one,
wishing I could soar,
to save it.

Written for Friday Flash 55 - My post in exactly 55 words - for the G-Man.

  2. I was just reading a Willy Wonka book... and in it, those meteors aren't chunks of rock, but invading Vermicious Knids.

  5. Rosaria~ I bet you saw much more of the Perseids at your secluded beach than we did here in the valley. The image is by my nephew who was on vacation in Colorado during the Perseids!

Brian~ I'm like a little kid when I get a compliment like this from you, guru. Many thanks.

    D. Luthor~ Interesting bit of trivia there. I honestly did not know there were Willy Wonka books!

Nara~ Thanks, and that tree really spoke to me too. (p.s. I love the title of your new book; hot!)

G-Man~ I thought you were on vacation and not checking in with us until Sunday! You must have found a connection, and I am not complaining as I loved your comment.

  7. The ideal
    (or un-ideal)
    time for
    star-crossed lovers,
    having stars
    showered upon them,
    or a singular tree
    wanting to save
    at least one
    the showering
    Perseids.

    Blessings and Bear hugs!
