Friday Flash 55 — At Thanksgiving

She was across the table
rambling on, as go her
conversations, directing some
questions to her husband—
and in between all that,
mentioned they had thought
of planning sea scatterings
(just as my mother had
arranged) but, instead, bought
two cemetery plots in Portland
and was I going to have some
pumpkin pie for dessert?

My post in exactly 55 words written for, Friday Flash 55.

  1. Sounds like my father-in-law in his dementia decline. Just listening is a gift...

  6. With a life revolving around aging parents, I totally get this. Totally. And I like the image, words with a margin and your woman in her lookout. I like it all.

  8. Oh isn't that just the way--mix in the important squeezed in between the mundane.

  9. Mary~ Fortunately, this was not an incident involving dementia, but an example of much to catch up on!

G-Man~ I would imagine your directions are wild and crazy. I hope whatever they are that they will be honored when you leave us, which better not be until long decades from now. :)

Brian~ Interesting that you had a similar, only more intense, example. :)

    kj~ Thanks much, kj.

Yvonne~ How kind of you to tell me that you totally get this and that you like things around here. I am most pleased and honored.

Rob-bear~ When kj speaks others listen! Thanks.

Fireblossom~ It is nice when people decide to plan and then advise family members of their plans. But it is a difficult topic so probably is interjected in ways like this more than one would think. :)

  10. I don't think this was dementia, but rather the scattered ways table conversations go ..... drives some folks crazy, but others don't mind having to pay attention to hear the whole story! I like this alot!
