Hiking to Wildhorse Lake
Traversing no trail
The mountain at first looks fair
Welcoming wayfaring wanderers.
Blue lake lapping below
Summons serious backpackers
Delights the daytrekker.
Wildhorse Lake loves loners
With hooves that help to hold
No trail while traversing.
Traversing no trail
Tiny rocks loosen
Falling fast once freed.
Trickling starling stream
Bubbles up from below
Making mossy music.
Hours to sandy shore
After traversing no trail
One wordless with wonder.
Created for dVerse Poets Pub FormForAll, where Gay Reiser Cannon's prompt is TRIVERSEN—And An Attempt to Define The "Modern" ..... I must admit that I am not sure if I got the "variable foot" with appropriate one-to-four beats per line correctly, but it was a great exercise nevertheless.
