"Dancers are the athletes of God." *

In the Olympic spirit (and we need all we can get) here are two videos that fill me with hope for the future of our species and give me heart that we'll come together to save the other species on Earth. They also add to that wish list of places in the world I'd love to see. The first one, created by Matt Harding this year, has been viewed by nearly 9 million people, and the one below it, created two years ago, has had over 11 million viewings. Of his latest video Matt comments:
14 months in the making, 42 countries, and a cast of thousands. Thanks to everyone who danced with me.
Make sure to click "watch in high quality" right underneath the video.

This is going to be a replay for many of you, no doubt. But since my blog is meant, in part, to be a journal about things I love ~
and I love these videos ~ here then is the soaring humanity of Matt Harding...

"Dancers are the athletes of God."
*Albert Einstein

My heart yearns to one day 'dance' upon the soil of those places that my heart aches so badly to go.....

Those videos made me really emotional, I think that my current state of mind is in need of some serious globe trotting.

great quote-find. I'm at work, so I can't see the videos, but I will definitely come back!

also, thanks for your advice about my present stalker issues... I've decided to be less personal and specific on my blog, and leave the password for later - so hopefully that will be fine for now.

I really enjoyed the videos. They make you think, even though there are no words spoken.

It just shows a couple of things - 1) how something so simple can catch on and become something more 2) that people can come together in a positive (if extremely daft) way. Good on him for proving that although men can't dance it really doesn't matter!

WW,
You'll dance in those places of the heart, and the photos you take will be amazing! I hope it's sooner than later, but later is better than never.

A Little Bird,
I read your post from work at your blog. Way to go, showing up early on the new job! I'm sending safety meditations your way on the other issue.

Lisa,
Good point. And I thought the music really fit, too. (The raccoons are back at our tree...oh my)

DFTP,
You are so right on all counts! His dancing really touched my heart and that's what dance is all about in the end.

A sillydance all over the world! Wonderful!

*and, as to your question on my blog post--I wrote it. "Recycled" just meant that it was written a while ago in another context.

Actually (I meant to say this in the first comment) they make me think of a happier Godfrey Reggio (director of Koyannisquatsi).

I've seen the first video before and it brought a tear to my eye, but I like how in the second one he is mostly dancing by himself with people or animals walking by or looking at him weird. He was dancing in some pretty dangerous places!

P.S.
love the Einstein quote.

when I first started looking at the top video I wasn't so impressed in the beginning but still felt complelled to watch. Half way through it, something about it touched a nerve and before it was over, a wellspring of happy emotion overcame me. It really is something we can all identify with, indescribable I think.

Oh , thanks so much for posting that Lydia. It WAS inspiring in more than one ways. (like the wayfaring wanderer, i strangely found myself quite emotional at the end) It reminds me i have lots of places left to visit - and that we all like to dance !!!

i'll never get tired of watching that video. it really carried the message 'One World' across.
And did you see that georgian athlete hug and congratulate her russian opponent after her event? priceless!
shows how a little love and compassion can go a long way...
nice blog. loved reading the entries, especially the 'about me' section :)
have a great day!

Yogaforcynics,
Glad you think the dance is wonderful, and although I couldn't have come up with the name of the director of Koyannisquatsi (a great great movie), I do see your analogy. And thanks for answering my question (excellent writing).

Arnold,
That's interesting you prefer the earlier video. I wonder what a survey of viewers would show. I like your new profile pic.

Lily,
Your description moved me. It was a journey of the heart and very fitting for the videos.

Honour,
Wasn't Wayfaring Wanderer's ending statement so appropriate: I DREAM...
I dream, and I also love to dance!

Mantiz,
I so appreciate your kind comments about my blog; thanks for being here! Yes, I did see the Russian and Georgian athletes hug, and it was wonderful. If Russia really does stand down as they say they will I'll always wonder if that Olympic scene didn't have at least a cosmic role in the outcome.
I'm on my way to see your blog now...

Love these videos. They really do lift the spirit don't they?? Hope you don't mind--I'm going to recycle the Einstein quote. As an ex-wanted-to-be-a-dancer with the torn up hips to show for it I really appreciate Mr. Albert's wisdom and insight:>)

DBSO,
Mind? I just returned from your beautiful blog and I love what you did with this wonderful quote by Einstein! (I frequently lament to my husband that I should have been a dancer...)
