In the Olympic spirit (and we need all we can get) here are two videos that fill me with hope for the future of our species and give me heart that we'll come together to save the other species on Earth. They also add to that wish list of places in the world I'd love to see. The first one, created by Matt Harding this year, has been viewed by nearly 9 million people, and the one below it, created two years ago, has had over 11 million viewings. Of his latest video Matt comments:

My heart yearns to one day 'dance' upon the soil of those places that my heart aches so badly to go.....

It just shows a couple of things - 1) how something so simple can catch on and become something more 2) that people can come together in a positive (if extremely daft) way. Good on him for proving that although men can't dance it really doesn't matter!

Actually (I meant to say this in the first comment) they make me think of a happier Godfrey Reggio (director of Koyannisquatsi).
I've seen the first video before and it brought a tear to my eye, but I like how in the second one he is mostly dancing by himself with people or animals walking by or looking at him weird. He was dancing in some pretty dangerous places!

when I first started looking at the top video I wasn't so impressed in the beginning but still felt complelled to watch. Half way through it, something about it touched a nerve and before it was over, a wellspring of happy emotion overcame me. It really is something we can all identify with, indescribable I think.
Oh , thanks so much for posting that Lydia. It WAS inspiring in more than one ways. (like the wayfaring wanderer, i strangely found myself quite emotional at the end) It reminds me i have lots of places left to visit - and that we all like to dance !!!

I so appreciate your kind comments about my blog; thanks for being here! Yes, I did see the Russian and Georgian athletes hug, and it was wonderful. If Russia really does stand down as they say they will I'll always wonder if that Olympic scene didn't have at least a cosmic role in the outcome.
