Friday Flash 55 & Mag 168: Lyle and Constance

They always had style
but never lacked substance.
His first name is Lyle
and her name is Constance.
They love the city—
streets seem paved with gold,
unlike the gritty
country dirt roads of old.
They still smoke and talk
while waiting for the bus,
and will later walk
gray Weimaraner, Gus.

(They get along.)

Written for Friday Flash 55 - My post in exactly 55 words - for the G-Man.
-ALSO-
Written for The Mag: Mag 168 that inspired with the above photo prompt
(Old Couple, photo by Togan Gokbakar).

Your poem hints at a real depth of stories for them.

This poem has all the elements that make for great story-telling. You have used rhyme to excellent effect too - and all in 55!

Vanessa~ Thank you so much.

Kerry~ I appreciated your kind comment.

mindlovemisery~ :)

g-man~ I love the way you usually give a title to my 55s, like this one for example: AARP 55. You're great.

Other Mary~ Why, thank you!

~T~ Glad you thought so!

Kathe~ Yup, Gus was begging to be let in here (nope, I never knew a dog named Gus, or a Wiemaraner for that matter)!

Rob-bear~ Thanks, Bear. Hope your weekend is a fine one.

Lady in Read~ (Great name!) You pose an interesting idea. If they "speak" to me I'll write more poems about Lyle and Constance!

Tess~ Oh, guru, your comment made my day. :)

i think your pome says a lot about the image and has made me look at it again a bit more closely.

Now I'm seeing a lost Simon & Garfunkel song, or maybe an early Woody Allen film

Lydia said...

Pixies~ Thank you. Now you have me seeing an early Woody Allen film, too!
