I'm too tired tonight to fiddle around with translation sites. In fact, it took me awhile to see that LOVE is spelled out in roses on this postcard. This happens to be one of those postcards that I find more interesting on the back than the front, with the note written in Finnish to my paternal grandmother and that most excellent stamp! Don't get me wrong, though, roses are always fully appreciated.......
A Rose to The Living
A rose to the living is more
Than sumptuous wreaths to the
dead:
In filling love's infinite store,
A rose to the living is more
If graciously given before
The hungering spirit is fled--
A rose to the living is more,
Than sumptuous wreaths to the
dead.

Beautiful! What a treasure to have this! I like the poem, too...very wise.
I got tagged and am now tagging you. Sorry...Think you might find it funny though, and certainly in keeping with your blog today--who knows what really goes on in that bucolic scene?
Happy April Fools!
Jking, why would I wish you that?
XD
@Erin- So glad you appreciated the postcard and the poem, although the poem is lame lame lame compared to your poetry. :)
@Distracted- Ah, such an honor. And yes, I agree that it was in keeping with "the dead" portion of this post. I quickly passed it on....didn't want to ruffle any feathers by not being a good egg. :)
@Acolyte Tao- And with only minutes to go here on the west coast I will indeed with you a Happy April Fools as well....but why would I, oh never mind......
@Acolyte Tao- uh, that was wish you a Happy April Fools, if we were wishing that for one another, which we're not. :)
Pretty Flowers.
Beautiful postcard! Glad you told me about the roses spelling out "LOVE" or I might have missed it. Congrats on you Zombie Chicken award!
@Amy- Glad you liked them. Pretty photo in your avatar!
@Judith- I think it's a beauty too. I'm glad you also didn't "see 'Love'" right away. Actually, it was very pronounced in my thumbnails file and that's where it popped out for me. Ah, yes, the Zombie Chicken....hard to top that award!
