THE BEST PEDAGOGUE ~ Nature is man's teacher. She unfolds her treasures to his search, unseals his eye, illumes his mind, and purifies his heart; an influence breathes from all the sights and sounds of her existence. ~ Street
Quote from LEAVES OF GOLD - An Anthology of Prayers, Memorable Phrases, Inspirational Verse and Prose - From the Best Authors of the World, Both Ancient and Modern, copyright 1938, 1948
(I have no idea whatsoever who author Street was, or whether he/she was ancient or considered modern in 1948!)

"Nature has never looked and did not know the language" complicated "mathematics, yet it is more mathematician than man." Thank you my dear friend. Know that I still have a real thought for you. "Bookmanie
Great words, really wise ones, I really dig them, it reminds me that in the end reality always shows itself.
"Rationality, it varies depending on location. Solstice is shown 24 hours, but the sun (nature) knows that it takes its time." Bookmanie
Is it the solstice already!?... the days escape me... lovely post to ease me back into catching up with everyone and everything.. hope the weather is being kind where you are :-)
I'm wondering if "street" actually means something similar to "traditional" as shown on songs - as in~: it's so old that no one really knows and it came up from the street?
Suspect very strongly it's not Stephen Street - the 80s/90s Producer of The Smiths and Morrissey (sorry, UK culture there)
Either way - beautiful words and pictures and as thought provoking as ever
What a beautiful picture, and really cool quote too. Reminded me of Thoreau and Emerson.
@bookmanie- Your comments are always unique and I have missed them! Happy Holidays to you. Yes, and who ever asked the sun about solstice?!
@Mariana- Ooh, I like that "in the end reality always shows itself." Wonderful.
@the watercats- I'm coming over in a bit, as I see you are donning long underwear and from your comment here about weather I can only assume that you are suffering somewhat. It's been a long siege for you guys, most definitely.
@Pixies- I did wonder if it meant "as heard on the street" in a general way. But it definitely isn't Stephen Street, although could possibly be a great lyric inspiration...
@Ben- I agree with you, on both the photo and the quote. It's one of the most gorgeous photographs I have seen, one I actually may return to the site to purchase. The prices are good and this one by a fine photographer is worth having.
Gorgeous. And exactly what a winter solstice SHOULD look like. I might just buy that photo to tape on our windows and embarrass the weather system here in CinCity. Grey and wet:>)
Happy Winter's Soltice to you and yours!!!
"an influence breathes from all the sights and sounds of her existence". That is a lovely quote and so true.
Blessings,
Rhi
Full of wisdom, very influencial words!
@Distracted- Great to have a visit from you. It appears that we are having similar weather systems, although today it was a real blessing to have afternoon sunshine. This spectacular photograph is a must-have for gray days, most definitely!
Happy Christmas and New Year to you and yours.
@Rhi- I liked it also. This quote has a quiet but powerful appeal.
Blessings to you too.
@Phivos- Yes, and I will try to keep them close to my heart.
Coming over to your blog right now:)
p.s. I loved this photo so much that I just now ordered the print! You can too; just click on the photo and it'll take you to the site.
Nature is indeed the best teacher. And every season it unfolds its newer variety of wisdom. The photo is too good!!
@Riyadh- So sorry to take this time in replying to your thoughtful comment! I kept seeing it in my regular email inbox, would read and enjoy it again - thinking that I must reply when I went to my blog...
I ordered the photo! It is even more gorgeous printed on fine paper stock. I did not have it framed because I thought I could have it done cheaper around here. But I must get a frame soon because I want it on a wall!
