Old Postcard Wednesday--The Beatles, pre-Revolution

I love this old postcard but I wish the back had given a bit more information than the obvious. Wouldn't it be fascinating to know in what hallway lined with coats hung on hooks the lads sat on a bench for this shot?  I looked through a listing of videos on youtube to see if I could identify their attire. It doesn't appear that they wore those particular suits on the Ed Sullivan Show (I hope Ed Sullivan provided them with a bit cushier waiting area!) -- but it is a given that the image is well before 1968, when they recorded Revolution.

Revolution - lyrics

You say you want a revolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know that you can count me out
Don't you know it's gonna be all right
all right, all right

You say you got a real solution
Well, you know
We'd all love to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
Well, you know
We're doing what we can
But when you want money
for people with minds that hate
All I can tell is brother you have to wait
Don't you know it's gonna be all right
all right, all right
Ah

ah, ah, ah, ah, ah...

You say you'll change the constitution
Well, you know
We all want to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
Well, you know
You better free you mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of chairman Mao
You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow
Don't you know it's gonna be all right
all right, all right
all right, all right, all right
all right, all right, all right

In a bit of irony, my former post titled We All Want to Change the World, included striking before/during photos (not my photos) of Earth Hour showing the Great Pyramid and the Sphinx...

Would it be too cliche for me to say, this is simply FAB!?

Given the world situation at the moment, "Revolution" seems particularly apt.

You got a kudo at my blog yesterday, for telling me about 365 Days of Emmylou Harris. I corrupted two more. We're winning souls for Emmylou! LOL

It is extraordinary to see how much these fab four changed over the forty decades that they have been a part of the collective.

When I lived in England '65-'67 there was a BBC program called 'Ready, Steady, Go!' They were frequent performers then and the suits are very Carnaby St.

mythopolis~ My friend, there is nothing cliche' about you!

Fireblossom~ Yes, apt.
Hey! That was a nice surprise to be mentioned at your blog....and all because I love Emmy Lou like you do (and obviously like the creators of the 365 Days of Emmy Lou blog)! I will be sorry when the year is up. I wonder if the guys will take on another year....

Belette Rouge~ Mucho changes, yup. (Your comment really sounded like it was written by a psychologist! My reply sounds like it was written by a kindergartner!)

Words A Day~ I wouldn't know about that...but I do know that I love your new profile pic. Beautiful!

Caren and Cody~ Oh, you are still a Beatles teenager! I know a couple more like you. :)

susan~ What a great thing to have lived there during that time! You were lucky, and I would love to hear some of your stories. The memory of the tv show was great.

i don't know exactly when - but the suits hail from the very, very early days of the Beatles - most likely 1963/64
