9/12/2011 and beyond

Urban Calm by Christopher Nunn

I wish that, with the tenth anniversary of 9/11 behind us, we could begin a new universal era of intelligent debate, appreciation for diversity, meeting of minds, sharing of hearts, caring for souls, and respect for our fragile planet and for the fragility of relationships, with renewed commitment to the health and well-being of future generations of humans and our fellow mammals, and birds, fish, reptiles, insects, and all sentient beings.

i wished to add something...but after reading like a 100 times your post, i couldnt come up with some thing else..you have put it so beautifully..only if the humans learn to follow these things, the world would be a lot better and we would never ever have a 9/11 in the future....

If this is the first day of the rest of our lives, I hope we can make it a great one. In the manner you have suggested.
Great post, Lydia.
Also, I'm thinking about the marvellous Bear in your picture. Aside from being calm, if he's not urban, is he urbane?

Muhammad Israr~ I will probably read your comment a 100 times because it made me so happy. Many thanks and good wishes for the future.

Brian~ I do not know, either...but affirming the hope sure can't hurt. :)

Rob-bear~ Thank you, and may this be a good day for you, for us all. I love the bear in this image also, and suggest that you might follow the link to see the artist's fine gallery (perhaps add a print to Bear's home wall?)...

Pixies~ And amen to that! Hey, there should be a new course offered in school. In connection with History there could be Learning from History!

Mama Zen~ Thank you for your Zen comment. :)

Hattie~ As with the comment from Muhammad Israr, yours made me very happy. Thank you.

I wish we could too.

So well put, Lydia. After reading it, I was just sitting here wondering what else to say, and found myself humming John Lennon's Imagine.

I can only second that emotion...

I'm pleased to meet you Writerquake. I'm here through Rob Bear. He and I both applaud your sentiments here.

Theresa~ We are together in this. :)

mythopolis~ Wow. I am honored, most definitely. That song just gets better with the years. Now I am humming it too. :)

Owen~ It adds strength to the hope. Funny you would use those words because we watched (a part of) The Big Chill last weekend when it was on tv, and so saw/heard the scene with Second that Emotion playing in the background. What a great movie that was.

Caren and Cody~ ...and amen again. :)

Stickup~ To be called sista by you is a real honor! Thank you.

kj~ Thank you so much for those words and for that little heart. I always love seeing it because I know true feeling is behind it.

Elisabeth~ Oh, wonderful, someone from Rob-bear's neck of the woods perhaps?...or one of his readers and fans?...I am pleased to meet you too and thank you for your comments!

Further afield than Rob Bear's wood. I'm from Australia, Lydia.

Lydia, so well said . . . ethics takes root in compassion, attaining its full breadth and depth when we are able to embrace all forms of life without excluding those we find expendable, exploitable and/or offensive.

Elisabeth~ Far away, yet a new friend. The wonders of blogging!

Dee~ Oh, I love...so love... your comment. Given to the appropriate Presidential candidate, it could be the part of one of those speeches that goes down in time.
