Mag 84 -- Simple thanks

Thank you, God, for my little black crow,
For each drop of rain on this moss-covered rock,
For the roiling clouds and their blue inner glow
And the glimpse of horizon beyond the Loch.

I like this little Wiccan prayer, if that's what it is. I like the opening line...a girl must always think of the creatures first! :-)

Sweet and simple.

Our cups do overflow with good-
even in rain! ( I need some sunshine
can you tell?) Thanks!

Its a great image this week - and I enjoyed this post!

Somehow, this reminded me, initially, of the Lady of Shalott. Don't ask me why. Bear's thinking is downright peculiar — even to me!
There is nonetheless a sense of forlornness to this. Black, and wet, and cold. A good "nevermore" from the raven? (I don't think it's a crow; I think it's a raven.) I think so; yes, nevermore.
But what does a Bear know about poetry? I'll just shake the rain out of my heavy coat and carry on.

Great stuff :)

Very neatly crafted in so few words.

Quite lovely. Almost like a children's verse.

Some of the most beautiful poems are prayers. Really lovely.

This went straight to my heart. I'm fully myself in rainstorms. Thanks :)

Fireblossom~ It's just a simple prayer...and the first line is based on something I have said since Willow was a wee kitten, that makes her quite pleased (Thank you God for my little gray kitty). ^.^

jabblog~ sincere thanks to you.

C.M. Jackson~ Thank you for your comment that started my week out great!

izzy~ I wish sunshine for you, lots of it before winter sets in (after that, remember to take your vitamin D). :)

Jinksy~ That was what I saw in her pose. :)

jane.~ Agree...and thank you!

Rob-bear~ Bears are lucky to be able to shake off the rain, most definitely. Crows (and ravens) also, but not to the same extent, as you can notice them taking shelter. Are humans the only ones who can decide to shutter themselves indoors or to be consider nutsy and run in the pouring rain? :)

Brian~ Thank you for that...it is important to remember that we cannot always distinguish between them!

Pixies~ Many thanks. I was wondering what rock song/group you would use as background for this image and you left me wondering!

Martin~ Why, Thank You!

Tess~ You are so kind. (see my comment to Pixies above...)
I love your new profile pic.

Helen~ Maybe not, depending upon how you look at it!

Roy Schulze~ Thank you. I felt that childlikeness when I saw the image...perhaps it came out in the words.

Words A Day~ I thank you for mentioning the rhythm, as I trust your ear. :)

Kristen~ Sweet thought. Thanks much.

Amber Lee~ Aw, you made me smile! And I loved finding out that little bit about you. :)

magiceye~ Thank you so much!

Deborah~ Many thanks for your comment.

Lydia - am i so predictable now?

If you must know the image immediately made me think of Peter Gabriel's song "Red Rain"

ha ha :)

Your words are a prayer...

Sounds very similar to the prayer we used to incant as children. Very soothing.

Pixies~ ....There. All better now.

magicinthebackyard~ You are the first person to call himself/herself a fan of mine. That is quite magic for me indeed! Thank you.

Stickup~ That is a beautiful thing for you to tell me. Thanks.

earlybird~ I wonder what prayer that was. It is not like the one my mother taught my sis and me, however, it also was soothing. :)

kj~ Your comment made me happy just now. Many thanks.

HyperCRYPTICal~ Thank you, Anna. The simplest expressions spring out of us naturally, I think. That is how this one came to be.

reonates with me-especially having just returned from rainy Scotland. Good to read your blog once again!

Lydia said...

ds~ I liked a lot the two words you used to describe it, and am honored.

Kathe W.~ Aye, returned from Scotland, have ye? I must journey to your blog to see vacation photos, or hope to see them there. What a lovely long trip you must have had. :)

I really quite love this poem/ prayer. On a separate note the picture is wonderful, for me it captures the allure and mystery of Woman. I've used a few similar to this in past posts, I've always been drawn to them.

Lydia said...

Barry~ That you "quite love" it makes me smile, as does your description of the picture which sure seems spot on to me.
Thank you for coming by!
