Friday Flash 55 -- Message from David to Corporate Goliath

The following description and image are from the website of Dale Mathis, wondrous creator of  "mixed media, high relief sculptures and design objects."
David Mechanica

The power of this piece comes from the celebration of the underdog. That moment right before you (like he ) conquer your worst fears once and for all.

Message from David to Corporate Goliath

Don’t tell us to spring forward or fall back.
You will never again wind us up to do your bidding,
        Or digitally tweak our lives.
You say time is money.
                   We gave you time.
                                 We gave you money.
You squandered these treasures.

We have fallen back.
        Now  we  march        forward,

And proclaim this Our Time.

                                                  MLydiaM ~ November 2011

You know how rebel against this?
I don't change the clock in my car!
Pretty defiant eh?
Loved your 55 Lydia.
You always put so much into it.
Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass Week-End

I'm looking forward to the changing of the clocks. I'm tired of getting up in the dark already and we aren't even close to the short days yet.

Such a delightful 55, Lydia.
A story of what I'm doing with my life write now. Er, um, make that "right now."
BTW, 1 in 15 Americans is currently unemployed. The story is on my blog.

KB~ Thanks much. :)

Brian~ As always, I so appreciate the little extras in your comments. Thank you.

G-Man~ We don't change the one in the car either! What was strange recently is that our dvd player switched back to Standard. Evidently, it was made before George W. Bush extended the time. Sure messed with my head. :)

Alice Audrey~ I hear ya. Besides, I am ready to get back to "normal."

Rob-bear~ Well, are you just the bear-er of sad stats! I will come see what you are up to soon. Thank you for your kind comments. :)

Monkey Man~ Thank you; I appreciate it.

rosaria~ That artwork was a great catalyst!

Morning~ Thanks so much. Humor, yes indeed...we need to hang onto that for sure!

YogaforCynics~ Hey, drjay! Thank you for visiting and commenting.

kj~ Keep Wish Alive!

Shauna~ Loved your comment and am honored by the follow. Thank you.

i don't know how you always manage to make these so good - writing to 55 words and making it all make sense

This is a very clever piece :)

No kidding--and no matter how much you give, they only want MORE. Greed has no bottom. It's time for them to understand the nuances of the word "No." Wonderful, heartfelt 55. (Sorry to be so long getting by.)

I do hate Fall and falling back!
Nice write! Thanks for being so supportive-

Yes! And an excellent image to go with your words. I hope the movement continues. It is amazing to see so many spring into action after years of complacency and silence.

You've done this so well. OCCUPY!
Can I link to this on Facebook? What do you think? It's such a great piece for the movement. I love the use of art to bring awareness about politics, but personally, I never even try. It's very hard to do well. A lot of it comes out preachy.

I find a sense of joy and freedom in this piece. Unexpected in a poem of this nature, but just what we all need.

Thanks, Lydia!

Well expressed sentiments, pared down to a concise essence of thought. Message clear but worth reading several times to fully absorb nuances.

Pixies~ Ah, you are so kind. Always appreciate your visits and comments. x

hedgewitch~ It is always a pleasure to see a comment from you and you never need to apologize for being late or not being here at all, for that matter. Appreciate the solidarity of your comment.

izzy~ I'm sorry you hate fall and falling back. Wish I could put you in a little time capsule and zip you forward to spring! Take care. :)

Stickup~ I know! It's like a Rip Van Winkle world all of a sudden. Where were all these people during the W years? Oh well, at least questions are being asked now, with answers and action hopefully to come.

twinkly sparkles~ Thank you! I would be honored if you would link this to Facebook. To be honest, I did put it on the wall of my friend linked in the edit comments, but it was shared there under my first name that I use at FB (still shows as Writerquake, though). Anyway, I am touched you would think it worthy to share.

English Rider~ Why, thank you so much for your meaningful comments. I really appreciate them. :)
