Fiamma's umbrella
seemed like a
parachute she floated
into a realm of thick
music
where each footstep
became percussion
timed with her heart
beat. Her smile was a
secret
that turned on bright
gilded colors in the
nightworld around her.
Fiamma's inner light
was mirrored by a
flame
of wet gold
in the street ahead.
The Girl with the Blue Umbrella by Roderick Perez
Written for Friday Flash 55 - My post in exactly 55 words - for the G-Man.
(Note: This week G has renamed the prompt Friday Slash 55,
and although mine is not of a Halloween theme you might
imagine that Fiamma is out trick-or-treating if you wish.)
fiamma - Italian, meaning flame
.

Striking painting--at first I couldn't even see the figures, just the golden light pattern, which looked to me a bit like a hovering devil's face--I do need new glasses, however. ;_) Your poem gives a real feel for your character, the night, the music and the mood, all in 55 well-chosen words.
Lydia....

Shine on, girl!
Beautifully written with image to match. Stunning. I love a "realm of thick music".
Sorry to have missed your 55 and coming around so late to the game. What happened to the weekend??
*~* Thank you, everyone, for your wonderful comments and your appreciation of the beautiful painting by Roderick Perez (I am thinking of buying a print at imagekind...)
I spent some days on a blogcation without prior notification, two of them at the Oregon Coast. I had hoped to do lots of catching up on blog reading while there, but spent most of my tablet time familiarizing myself with the new device. I apologize for not having been around your blogs. ♥
