Friday Flash 55 — the ice ship

Set Designer: Rhea Thierstein
Image: Tim Walker

The elephant in the room was the ice ship. The house was magnificent in every way except for, well, you know. Even the ice sculpture was perfect, just not inside the perfect room that they had always dreamed about, like a sculpture itself.

"We can work with it," said the Ms. and the Mr. agreed.

Written for Friday Flash 55 - My post in exactly 55 words - for the G-Man.

Welllll...I'm picturing it more like this:

Mrs: "Bob, take your damn hobbies out to the garage and out of my dining room!"

THE END

The Ms. and Mr. sat in that room every day, chilled despite the fur wrap around her shoulders and his grey wool overcoat left him by his great-uncle Edwin, waiting for the iceman to cometh.

Goodness where did they find all those tiny people! Such chilling art!
Thanks! come visit my 55-

Wow. The consolation for this couple is that the ship will melt. But until then, what a chill.

the other elephant is all those bottles- a melting ice ship in the house could lead to a bit of excessive imbibing...

Is the room kept Cold?
This reminds me of NCIS with Gibbs building a sailboat in his basement.
Lydia, every week you come up with very unique and clever story. The TRUE mark of a GREAT writer.
Loved your semi-nautical 55
Thanks for playing, thanks for your unwavering loyalty, and please have a Kick Ass Week-End

what interests me more than the ship is the tiny people surrounding it in the "water"

quite a haunting image

Actually this puts me in mind of all those shows where people look to move to the country house and always find something to pick holes in - when i'd quite happily move in tomorrow - or today even if it wasn't already getting on a bit :)

Enjoying your posts as much as ever x

That ship is definitely amazing. Thanks for sharing it but your 55 is right, it would be a bit hard to live with.

Flash 55 - come on, i'm worth it

Makes me want to get lost at sea!

Strangely, I see no imperfection — not in the ship; not in the room. But if they chose to, the Ms. and the Mr.could work with it. Obscenely and courageously, perhaps, as did the players in A Midsummer-Night's dream.

Unusual and fantastical image, Lydia--it certainly is begging for a story to go with it. Loved your 55 explanation.

Fireblossom~ Oh, You!!!!! :)

Brian~ A beautiful elephant....but aren't they all?!

Anthony~ I agree.

Annie~ Loved your comment.

izzy~ Tiny people? I have brainfreeze!

Myrna~ Unless they decide to keep the room at that temperature, in which case I wouldn't want to see their electrical bill. :)

Kathe~ I think you make an astute observation there! Very sobering thought!

G-Man~ You are kinder than kind in your comments and I thank you ever so. I loved the connection to Gibbs!!!

Pixies~ The country househunting episode was what came to mind for me also. People can be so picky! I had to really look hard, but I have determined that what appear to be tiny people are instead bottles. Think so?

Nessa~ Thanks so much for your comment.

brandi~ I sure understand what you mean!

Rob-bear~ You are right, no imperfections, just obscenely and courageously interesting art!!!

hedgewitch~ I loved the image and thank you for your comment.

i think you're right. Instead of a ship in a bottle it is bottles in a ship?

Pixies~ You are onto something with that twist! I think it is part of the artist's message somehow. :)
