Dr. Seuss prescribed green eggs and ham,
Heartily enjoyed by Sam I Am.
There are fishermen who eat Spam!
I gave up red meat - missed rack of lamb;
Now I love pasta, olive oil, garlicky clam.
Of all the root vegies the sweetest is yam -
Speaking of sweet, this is my kind of jam . . .

nice...i like the lumineers....and sam i am, please hold the spam, i got issues with meat in a can, and will go on the lam...but seuss is the man
spam - as in junk mail - takes its name from Monty Python's Flying Circus, where the cafe is full of vikings singing about spam
Dr Seuss is still not that well known here - albiet better known since all the movies, but i do remember reading The Cat In The Hat
Lewis Carroll wrote about the Mad Hatter promising Jam Tomorrow - as a metaphor for the idea that if you give someone something today then it will keep them happy today, but if you promise them something tomorrow.....well then
Which neatly links back to the first thing about Spam as i found out about the last bit when I saw Neil Inness (Bonzo Dog Band and occasional compatriot of the Pythons) live some years ago
spam spam spam spam, spam spam spam spam, lovely spam, wonderful spam... (sorry, it had to be done)
I have had the same silly problem going on for ages! rollicking fun thanks!
your choice of a jam
would go well with a dram
I'll leave out the spam
as it sinks with a wham
Nicely done, Lydia.
This was wonderful! What a fun 55! I'll gladly indulge in that jam :)
LYDIA!!!!!!
I was frantic looking for you all week. Thanks for returning home:-)
I like Spam, AND Green Eggs and Ham
But I LOVED your Whimsical 55
Thanks for playing, thanks for the grin, and have a Kick Ass Week-End
Brian~ Well, you started a trend and I loved it! That bit about having issues with meat in a can really cracked me up.
Lester~ A story in each can....well, I hope you tell at your blog sometime!
Pixies~ Your mind works in such wondrous ways I bet you would have had Dr. Seuss's brain spinning. Your information is certainly not spam!
izzy~ Glad you enjoyed a laugh here. :)
susan~ Thanks. Interesting you would use "wham" in your delightful verse, because I had "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go" by Wham in mind when I worked on this one.
TALON~ Thank you for indulging and for your appreciation.
G-Man~ Was sicky poo with virus or flu, and it held on the whole damn week. I wouldn't wish it on an enemy. Thanks for your concern and for your fun comment, G.
