Friday Flash 55 — I ♥ SF

Golden Gate Bridge Tower in Fog by Jim Brandano via Pixdaus

Here is the church here is the steeple...
No. That's not right.

Here is the bridge here are the people...
No. No. Not quite.

Here is my heart like a blurry tepal -
But I am not there what a pity.
Here is my love like a protective sepal -
Resting lightly over you and The City.

Written for Friday Flash 55 - My post in exactly 55 words - for the G-Man.

To clarify that tepal and sepal stuff
Above photo is a Lilium flower showing the tepals:
the inner three are petals and the outer three are sepals.
Tepals are elements of the perianth, or outer part of a flower, which includes the petals or sepals. The term "tepal" is applied when all the segments of the perianth are of similar shape and color, or undifferentiated. When different types of organs can be distinguished, they are referred to as sepals and petals.

Love it thank you!

Thank you for the definitions. I had no idea what they were. They do kind of look like the top of the suspension bridge and a church steeple. Funny how the rhyme works, too.

I remember that bridge,
sort of.

I've never been to LA,
but I loved San Fran!
Cable cars and giant hills —
up, and down, up, and down.
Colour and excitement,
everywhere.

That's one trip I
could take
again.

Fireblossom~ Thank you!
(re: the comments, I turned it off for awhile but back on now just in case a family member or friend wants to drop a comment anonymously)

izzy~ Thank you!

Alice Audrey~ I had to look them up also, once I found the rhyming words. Weird how they fit somehow.

Brian~ Many thanks. And I am so glad you are back!

g-man~ Aw, that is a real bummer that this was your only view. Guess you'll just have to go back sometime! Thanks, and have a great weekend.

Rob-bear~ I loved your SF poem! Agree 100% about returning...for me it has been way too long since I was there.

Indigo~ Indigo! Long time, and from my end as well. Great to have this sweetest of comments from you, as I love the way you wrote "Love the immersion of steel and flowers" as much as I love the immersion of steel and flowers! See you soon.

This is a very sweet poem. I'm always entranced by how well you rise to the 55 word challenges.

I loved San Francisco too and actually wept the first time we crossed the Golden Gate Bridge. Sometimes extreme sentimentality strikes me unexpectedly.

Love the unusual snippets of information that go with your fun word play and lovely picture. :)

susan~ I'm always entranced by your drawings~
What an awareness memory you shared about your first crossing over the Golden Gate Bridge. Beautiful.

Jinksy~ Why thank you kindly!

Lester~ I am impressed that you had an old plant ID text for reference! I had a lesson via the internet and it was new info for me (I did, however, work for one week in my life scaling lilies in a lab at a huge lily bulb operation).

ok bear with me on a tangent here

When i see SF i think Sci-fi

And of course in Star Trek 4: The Voyage Home Captain Kirk and his crew in their stolen Klingon Bird Of Prey crash land under the golden gate bridge just prior to saving the whales - i mention this because it looks like i wont get to see ST: Into Darkness at the cinema due to my "hell no, i won't go" approach to 3D movies (only 5 cinemas in the country are currently showing the 2D version)

When i think of San Francisco i think of cable cars, bumpy taxis, frozen bananas by the waters edge and a boat trip that went under the bridge but not, to my chagrin, to Alcatraz

Pixies~ It is almost scary how perfectly well I followed your tangent! SF=Sci-fi.......but of course that fits when you call up ST4 (the best one, I always thought).

I never got to see Alcatraz either, but The Birdman from Alcatraz sure is a great movie and now you have me thinking of it...

loving homage to our beloved city. I say "our" because anyone who has been there feels right at home.
