Friday Flash 55 — Remembering Crane

crowned crane by Jane Schnetlage
crowned crane by Jane Schnetlage

Crane your neck. See
them overhead, closing in
on a turquoise preserve pond so
clear a bird once disappeared into the
sunset sky, believing he was diving for red-
gold schools of fish beneath sparkling waters.

Each ~ as distinctive as a desert flower ~ lifts up,
up in blended creation to paint the horizon at migration.

I really enjoyed the vivid details you wrote in your 55. You brought this pond scene to life clearly for anyone who reads your poem. Beautifully penned.

As elegant as the bird your poem describes.

Ming~ I so appreciated your comment and the follow. However, because I am not a member of Google+ and cannot access/comment your blog. I am so sorry.

Mary ~ Many thanks; I so enjoy your visits and comments.

Brian~ I have never seen this particular type of crane here in Oregon. How beautiful they (all) are!

Fireblossom~ sigh back

Linc~ Thank you so much.

G-Man~ Well I think your own 55 this week rivaled the pic for "colorful"....!

susan~ Oh, many thanks.

I live in NC and see a few long legged birds. I think we get the white cranes here and I adore the herons. I thought this was a peacock! The image is as beautiful and colorful as your words.
