Friday Flash 55 & Mag 201 — Imprinted
They were freshly-poured
long before I strode
upon their cobbles and cracks,
but look down
near the young Linden tree
around the corner from the
tailor's shop with that wall full
of multi-colored thread spools
on lacquered dowels.
Look with your heart,
and you will see my
prints preserved
on the sidewalks of New York.
Written for Friday Flash 55, G-Man, and his Mr. Knowitall community...
and also
Written for The Mag: Mag 201 that inspired with the above image prompt
(New York at Night, Vivienne Gucwa).

BEGINNING IN 2014 I will reply to only occasional comments here, while appreciating every visit and all comments! My reason is to enable me to utilize that time to read and comment on your blog posts instead! If/when I get more organized I may later return to replying to comments here, but one of my New Years resolutions is to spend more time at your sites: reading, enjoying, learning! Thank you for understanding.
If your blog is associated with a Google+ account, I may not be able to visit you from your namelink. I do not wish to join Google+ and the site sometimes requires that I do so in order to read/comment on posts there.
Perfection. No other word is necessary.
ReplyDeletesmiles...that is cool, i think we leave our impressions everywhere...and def in NYC...i love the city...forget the hands in the concrete in hollywood...i would take nyc any day...
ReplyDeleteI love cobblestone, the uneven lovliness of it all, makes me think of walking the streets and sidewalks of Antiqua. That picture alone is enough to make one love New York.
ReplyDeleteI've missed seeing you and your lonely outpost.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who wants nothing to do with Google Plus. I find it convoluted and unnecessary and difficult to navigate and I HATE IT!
Ohhhh!
ReplyDeleteNothing "flash" about this one. This is a keeper.
Your footprints
ReplyDeleteon the freshly-poured
cobblestones of
New York.
Long vanished
from the eyes;
still held
in the
heart.
Great to hear from you again!
Blessings and Bear hugs!
Your words leave an imprint too. This one will linger with me awhile. Loved your 55
ReplyDeleteLydia...
ReplyDeleteOddly enough, the streets in Flint are laid with 100 year old bricks. It gives that old timey feel.
Loved your Street Walkin 55
Thanks for playing and sharing your great talent with us.
You are so encourageing to me and others and I really appreciate it.
Have a Kick Ass Week-End
Beautiful images both, Lydia. My prints are there too and on the cobbles of many more. I wonder if they remember us?
ReplyDeleteI think we will see those footsteps where we have been... Very interesting thought actually that can be expanded in many dimensions.
ReplyDeleteLydia- so lovely- I'll look for those preserved prints next time I am in NYC! Have a lovely year!
ReplyDelete.. the sidewalks of New York .. the song will cycle through my mind all day. :-)
ReplyDeleteI especially like the detail of "the young Linden tree/ around the corner": it brings the reader into the speaker's personal space.
ReplyDeleteOh, btw, the first commenter ammiroy is a spam bot that's showing up in a lot of blogs, you may want to delete and block? ~
Grapeling - Thanks for that info. Something seemed off to me...will delete that one now. :)
ReplyDeleteThe places we walk certainly leave imprints in our souls. Lovely poem!
ReplyDeleteI liked the detail of the spools and dowels!
ReplyDeleteI really like this -- history preserved of course -- barbara
ReplyDeleteAll the "familiar" details make this a poem that oozes romance and love.
