Not a Midsummer Night's Dream
Morning urges woke the puppy
and I ignored her whimpers
to finish my dream of UFOs.
Still dazed by the strange visit
and remembering our saucer-melted fence,
I saw the dog to her escape.
We stared then together
at what night brought as we dreamed.
Two timid steps forward acquainted
puppy with the crunch-joy
of her first snow.

I saw this image online and it reminded me of a poem I wrote many years ago. Consider it a whimsical placeholder between Christmas and Old Postcard Wednesday posts! Enjoy the final days of your family gatherings, and if you are about to get on the roads to head home please take care.
