Pardon me, this way is a very nice way.

Some of you may remember the image of this outstanding-in-its-field scarecrow that I posted last October. The good folks who created that scarecrow have outdone themselves this year!

The setting is about eight miles out of Silverton on the country road into Salem. At the intersection on one corner is an evangelical church that does not factor in the outdoor autumn decorating extravaganza. But on the other three corners and also a bit up one of the roadways these great scarecrows recently appeared.

I made a special drive last Saturday to get these shots because rain is expected at the end of this week....... a sad weather prediction for a glorious scarecrow here for only a flash of time and just looking for a little love and admiration.

Scarecrow: Pardon me, this way is a very nice way.
Dorothy: Who said that?
[Toto barks at scarecrow]
Dorothy: Don't be silly, Toto. Scarecrows don't talk.

Logical consequences are the scarecrows of fools and the beacons of wise men.
~Thomas Huxley

“That proves you are unusual, returned the Scarecrow; and I am convinced the only people worthy of consideration in this world are the unusual ones. For the common folks are like the leaves of a tree, and live and die unnoticed.”
 ~Lyman Frank Baum quote

Songs My Mother Taught Me . . . Dem Bones

Happy Halloween, everyone.

This outstanding-in-its-field scarecrow is along the country road about eight miles from Silverton. I took the shot on my way home from my solo beach trip a few weeks ago.

Well, of course, one of the songs my mother taught me was Dem Bones! She had the cutest way of performing it in the kitchen when I was a kid. This is the 16th in an undetermined number of songs my mother taught me that I posted this month in her memory, and with it the series is closed.
