A great man! I read a very interesting interview some time ago in the English edition of the German magazine "Spiegel" - headed "I Am Not Afraid of Death". here's the link

I have to admit to not knowing the man's work - but what a great quote, is this from the "one day in the life" book? Might look it up on Amazon

Francessa,
I'm impressed and very happy that you remembered that interview and provided the link. That is a lengthy article, but excellent from beginning to end. One comment stood out for me...
Solzhenitsyn: "I have grown used to the fact that, throughout the world, public repentance is the most unacceptable option for the modern politician."

DDFTP,
The quote site I researched last evening didn't provide the source material, so I am unsure about that. His famous speeches are also available online and I scanned a few of those, so his quotes undoubtedly come from books, speeches, interviews, etc. It was difficult deciding which of the dazzling quotes to select for this post.

Lisa,
Thanks much! Yes, I liked it too. A site I use to post odds&ends photos such as these is www.tinypics.com and if you click on the photos you'll be directed there.
