Now write a poem about a moment of transformation.
It doesn’t necessarily have to take the form of a journey, like the poem above. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a personal transformation.
It can be about something as simple as freshly laid eggs transformed into a breakfast – A seed transformed into a plant – or a poem about a person transformed by circumstance into something completely new.
Now throw in a recurring line here and there.
And before and after pictures would be nice :)
So, here is the strange saga of my virtual transformation - pure fiction, indeed. In case you are wondering, the braces are real and will be real for about another nine months (a type of transformation-in-the-making).
My Virtual Makeover (over and over)
If clothes make the man
then what makes the chick?
Woman's hair is her crowning glory.
Need it be your own hair
that turns heads here from there?
Would you change if you could?
You can make them all stare;
Go to InStyle.com Hollywood.
Makeover you - here a click, there a click.
Transform your plain face quicker than quick
into looks that are sweet, slick, or whorey.
Woman's hair is her crowning glory.
Try on the tresses of Charlize and Zooey
Be a star. Be a dreamer; time's wastin'.
In just a few Swift tick-tocks
Model Heidi's luscious long locks.
Then be Jessica. Be Jenny. Be sizzlin'.
If clothes make the man
then what makes the chick?
See how you look as theatrical Cate
or, wearing Ellen's short cut, maybe gayer.
Be thou Madonna with honey winged bangs
or Mrs. Tom Cruise in her glossed bob of late -
Or sample something far wilder and way grayer . . .
There is no greater proof of the power of hair
Than the look made by one Lady Gaga.
Go crazy with this one! -- Do the eyes and lips too.
Play up the top knot, that silver bone doga . . .
Woman's hair is her crowning glory.
Hair is what makes the chick.
It is the celebrity's shtick.
And that's the end of my stylin' story.

Lydia looks lovely no matter the 'do
But there's one look I don't see on 'er...
One look that wasn't right for you--
Bald like Sinead O'Connor!
Nice one! Very clever. I love the pics, and you actually got a recurring line in there too.
I'm off to try a virtual makeover of my own. Your link is up :)
Fun poem! But I like my hair, now, about those lines between the eyes....
If only real hair do's could be as painless! LOL
After serious study, I go for the blond version in the middle of the top row...
Very good! A delightful romp through celebrity style: "Be thou Madonna with honey winged bangs..." I especially like the repetitive and telling line, "Woman's hair is her crowning glory," and I love the visuals.
I laughed and laughed as I read your poem .... perfectly composed ~~~ I can't count the times I have tried on various hairstyles and colors in cyberland. Only to return to the regular old me! Nice job ....
hi Lydia, delighted to see you :-)
i agree with Fireblossom, lovely lovely lovely
and i so love the irony and fun of the poem!
Fantastic the poem and the photos! You are so sweet Lydia!
pah!.. hahahahahahahhhhaaa!
it's got to be the adams family black straight one.. Il love the fact that you included an interactivity in here too.. very apt to the poem :-)
nice.. very nice!
lydia, i have to come back to read this post and take it in. but in sliding by tonight i want you to know i just read your 'about me' and i am thrilled by every word you've written. double yay for you, and for me for knowing you.
would you like to join me as an aspiring babe? i would love your company!
:)
Fireblossom~ So cute. :) You're right; I don't see bald as my look.
Pure Fiction~ I'm late in getting to comments tonight and have yet to read anyone's poems from your prompt. Looking forward to it. Thanks again for such an interesting ride this week.
Kittie~ Glad you liked it and glad you like your hair. As for the lines between the eyes, try these. No miracle, but I've used them for over 15 years and they definitely lessen the lines if used regularly.
Jinksy~ Notice how only a few of these would require little upkeep? As for the style you selected I think it would be lovely on you. :)
Carolina Linthead~ Thank you for your feedback. Much appreciated, as is your visit.
Helen~ I'm happy to make you laugh! I had only tried this stuff out once before, but only with one style. It is weird to see how the styles change the appearance. I know what you mean about sticking with your look. I was a pony-tail kid and basically still am.
Roxana~ Glad you are delighted to see me and see me and see me and ... Thank you for your appreciation of my silliness. :)
Phivos~ Aw, thank you, Phivos.
the watercats~ So, Vic, did you go to the site, and if so did you find your inner chick? Yeah, that adams family one just sits there, doesn't it? Too weird, too weird!
kj~ Thank you for letting me know you appreciated my about me section.
Do I have to stop dressing like a Big-Dog-and-Cozy-Kitties-Mom in order to join you as an aspiring babe? Can a Big Dog Mom ever be a babe?...of that I am just not sure!
Lydia -- Love the poem, love the picture. I think you look great in flowing locks (your crowning glory . . . ).
The problem with someone like me reading something like this is that I get too distracted to read the poem (you've provided links - that's bad!) so you'll just have to trust that I'll come back after I finish transforming myself!
Kat
I might try that Lady Gaga 'do.'
Whorey is a great word! Love the little repetitions and internal rhymes!
Ah, to have hair....
The poem is brilliant. And, dear you, I have to tell you that I like you just the way you are.
xoxo
That looks like fun. I may opt for a virtual hair style. I like your own hair style best.
What a fun way to find the right hair style. I like your own style best.
Jennifer~ Thanks much! Appreciate your visit.
Kat~ Being distracted here is fine with me. It's even ok if you forget to return to read the silly poem. Mainly, I think it's loads of fun that you were going to fritter around with this virtual transformation stuff. :)
Hattie~ Oh, yes. When we go to Depoe Bay for lunch we can go as the Gagas. Or not. I just hope the tentative lunch plans work out.
Peter~ Thanks for your appreciative comments. I'm constantly assuring my husband that bald guys look great (but he has gobs of hair so will probably never need me to prove that I really mean it!).
Belette Rouge~ I'm grateful that you like me as I am. Now toss your thick long hair over your shoulder and give Lily a cuddle for me!
Darlene~ I posted your nearly duplicate comments instead of just one for only one reason: somebody else besides me had to have multiple images of themselves in this post!
Two of you to show off your gleaming silver hair!
I like you just the way you are also. You have beautiful cheekbones. However, you do look "hot" in the Madonna hairstyle.
I tried it but couldn't quite figure out how to keep changing to different styles. I did manage to get Kim Kardashians hairstyle on my head and it looked almost good!
Thanks for the poem and lightness of "being" you!...Lady gaga...her hairstyles wouldn't look good on anybody else I don't think.
My sister and are doing better. She is improving in health physical and mental. It does wear me out quite a bit to "educate" her how to do all it takes to survive..but I have no regrets of helping, showing and explaining to her...it's amazing to see the change in her..all things will take time. We are actually starting to have fun at time when we get together now. Yep, it's getting better.
Love,Blessings and Peace to this world,
Rhi
jeez, but you take a mighty fine photo. All these pictures of you down the years you keep posting - you are naturally photogenic and, for what it's worth, i think you look great with all those looks!
Brilliant! I do this every day with my own!!
As a deeply superficial person, this is my kind of transformation...
Rhi~ I am so glad to read that you and your sister are getting along so great. You can mean so much to one another as the years go along. I miss my sister and wish we lived closer.
I had fun reading your comments (love that lightness of being you and return the compliment) and envisioning you with a Kim K. hairstyle. Give it another try because it might go easier than the first.
Pixies~ Aw, thanks for that. I have more horrible photos of me than good ones, though! (personally i like the cate blanchett and jennifer lopez styles best on me.)
Titus~ Just so love that portrait image. Can't improve on a face like that. You don't look superficial!
