Mag 109 -- fault lines

It's not my fault
that this is screwed.

Who said that? Did God?

Or some cosmic clockmaker
tinkering and trying to
make sense of Time?
An adept chiropractor,
perhaps, tweaking and
adjusting the spine of
the Book of Life? Some
oily sex deviant serial-
yanking at labia, growling
"screw you, screw you, screw
you."                                         ?

Perchance to scheme, a
fat mouthpiece letting "slut"
rush over thick air, hissing
". . . no, you are the
reason this is screwed, so
now let us watch you screw."       ?

Without a dream, a
bullied boy wondering why
Mr. Fix-It looked the other
way...

or Mr. Fix-It throwing in
the wrench and heading home
to a misty cocktail and fog           ?

Written for The Mag, that inspired with the above photo prompt (image: Robert and Shana ParkeHarrison)

Post Update:  I deleted the final stanza, which I admittedly added for my own amusement and served to confuse nearly everyone else(!). I thank my fine and creative friend, Doctor FTSE, for communicating with me about it and for providing the advice that I ultimately went with.

dang some really dark and gritty imagery...i like...esp the adjusting the spine of the world...the one gripping labia and screaming screw you was disturbing...great though...ha...

Oh, yes.

In the midst of that darkness, a clock-maker deus absconditus will not fill the bill, any more than a chiropractor working on some earth-wide spine.

We need true prophets to recall us to reality. If they live long enough to do that.

Raw and gripping...I love your label "a screw-up of Biblical proportions"...

Powerful!

There is excellent imagery here. Once started one can't not read on. Very powerful.

mind blowing. seriously. I love the movement of roles people play (if that makes sense?)

izzy~ It is the easiest to like among the possibilities!

Brian~ Dark, yes. Not quite sure where this came from...but I mainly saw a rape of the Earth in this image.

Rob-bear~ Wow, you are so right...we do need true prophets. I loved how that comment came from this.

Eko~ "...And the world will be saved ...!" Thank you for your positive outlook, as it gave me hope. :)

Tess~ Ha! you know how when you start to type a label and options pop up from among others you have previously used? That one popped up and I thought: heck, yuh (although I do not remember what other post it related to)!

mythopolis~ Thanks much.

Doctor FTSE~ Many thanks. It was a disturbing image and conjured dark stuff for me. I'd better lighten things up around here!

Amber Lee~ Why, yes, that makes perfect sense to me and I appreciate your attention to those roles. :)

oh my this is gorgeous, absolutely! while i also think of 'rape of the earth' when i look at the photo, your take at it is so innovative and skillful that i am blown away... not to mention the entire complexity of intertextual connections that your postmodern poem offers, i especially loved 'perchance to scheme' as an ironical rewriting of the famous 'perchance to dream'...

a thousand bows to you, dear Lydia!

Roxana~ Your comment gave me goosebumps. I am so honored by your words. I will save them in a special place: my heart!

susan~ I consider it a huge compliment if you would think it a powerful protest, and thank you so much.

When or how will we as humans ever get it right?

Wow. So much going on here, both intriguing (the spine of the Book of Life) and disturbing (pulling at the labia)...You force us to think, and it's a good thing. Thank you.

ds~ Sorry to be so late in replying to your comment. I was off thinking, and that's a good thing..... (ha!)
