A bit swamped on Old Postcard Wednesday

GIF via ARG!

If you recognize this busily-reading little guy you will remember that I posted him before when I just had to commit to other obligations instead of creating a post for Old Postcard Wednesday. I am in that position again: need some extra time to read others' blogs and also to attend to pressing household obligations. In the mix is the male kitten who arrived at our outside wildlife food bowl last Friday night, obviously way too young to be out on his own foraging for food. I brought him inside to consider next steps and then noticed that his whiskers had been cut off by some horrid person. With that discovery, he was given a place to feel safe in our laundry room....thereby booting the dog out of her regular sleeping spot. A partial dog bed is now in the living room and everything is a crazy mess.

This shot shows how his little whiskers were clipped. (The vet went berserk when she saw this, saying he had definitely been abused.)

We had the kitten tested for feline leukemia (results were negative) and had his first kitten shots on Saturday. He has been wormed and given flea meds. He has already grown and is a personality kid. If any of my readers in Oregon might be interested in having him, please contact me via email. He deserves a loving forever home and we just cannot commit to him, as we have two inside cats (who aren't exactly warming to the kitten's meows) and are caring for three others who sleep in the garage...plus we feed anywhere from three-to-six additional strays each night in our wildlife area where I found this sweet baby.....

Poor sweet kitty. I hope you find a nice home for him. How people can be so cruel is beyond me. After being mistreated I am sure he is grateful to you and your kindness.

for many years i had a humorous postcard that was actually quite amusing

The caption was "having a lovely time" and the picture was of two tourists standing with wide smiles despite the plethora of signs behind and around them saying "no trespassing", "Danger: Mines", "No picnics", "no, no, no" etc - sadly it faded so badly that I had to throw it out a few years ago

Hope the little kitty gets a home.

Hope the kitty finds a permanent, loving home.

Abuse of animals distresses me more than anything else there is. I love animals so, and I just can't imagine (and don't want to) the bankruptcy of soul that an abuser must have.

Best of luck in finding that little sweetheart a home.

Darlene~ He sure is grateful and is like a sponge sopping up the love around here. ^.^

Pixies~ When you have a remarkable item such as that postcard you should keep it from sun exposure! It's sad that it faded. But it lives on in your memory and now at OPW. ^.^

rosaria~ Fingers crossed. I copied this post and put it on my Facebook page, tagging everyone on my list who is in Oregon. Have had two inquiries...and possibly one of them will work out. I'll know more by Friday. ^.^

Fireblossom~ You and I share that distress. I knew an animal abuser long ago, and your description of soul bankruptcy is perfect. Such actions are unforgivable. Totally. ^.^

laundry tap set~ I so hope that will be the outcome. If we cannot find a home then we will keep him, but it is not what I want for us or for him. ^.^

While I am decidedly not a cat lover, I'm appalled that someone would be so mean with a kitten. He was very fortunate to have found a safe place with your.

Rob-bear~ And he is still here. And we are falling in love with him. I want to find him a home so badly because it would be best for all of us (our other two kitties are unimpressed with the visitor in the laundry room). Am keeping my fingers crossed.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for him too. It's easy to understand how you have ended up looking after so many. We once had friends who lived at the end of a city road that bordered a park and they were always rescuing abandoned pets.

Oh he's such a cute little baby! If I were in Oregon I'd at least offer to help take care of him (Joe has already told me no more cats...)

I hope he finds a home!

OH! he reminds me of our Lucy and if we didn't live so far away plus Lucy NOT liking other cats dang it-
I'd drive up and get him- what an absolute doll of a kitty. Thank you for saving him. How can people do such awful things is beyond me.

Susan, Amber, Kathe~ Catching up here at my blog and so appreciate your comments about this little guy. He is still with us and the house is quite disrupted. It looks like we will keep him if our other inside cats will accept him...and that process is not going well. I didn't need the angst of all this and wish to God people would have their pets spayed and neutered, and not bring these babies into a world that doesn't want them. ^♥^

After studying your little kitty's photo I do believe he might be a Korat- like our Lucy. They are unique little cat beings.

Kathe~ Never heard of a Korat! Thank you for the link. I read the article and Ori seems much like the description, except for the "semi-cobby." Perhaps he will fill out but right now he has really long legs and tail and is very angular. The picture of the two at wiki sure do look like him, though. ^♥^
