Mag 149 — they quit smoking

They began the year fully convinced that, in one another, each had discovered the most smoking hot lover imaginable. This was too good to ever cool down, let alone die out. They would not let anyone or anything tamp down these flames of love that grew from simple soft embers of friendship. They knew one another for so long, so very well, that they considered themselves their own brand, their own creation. They had taken their time, slowly drawing one another out from the darkness that each knew independently, until each glowed in the presence of the other. Unfortunately, by the end of the year, after having filtered reality from their lives and living in the haze of their peculiar fantasy world, they were like ash representations of their former selves, and the butt of jokes for everyone else.

Written for The Mag: Mag 149 that inspired with the above photo prompt (image by R.A.D. Stainforth).

I like this! The butt jokes for everyone else. But the butts don't care!

very clever use of language throughout, there's no smoke without fire...
