Mag 159 — Summer Love(s)

Tell me. What did you see there,
across the sea from me?

Were her ears like shells, pearly
pink and did you taste them, did
you hear the future through them?
Did you really hear her —
Could you still hear me?

Did you really see her? Were you
visible to her there at the
ocean — Did you two then
sea as one?

Were the sands this white; did
the sun make you light up and
reach for her, and did she
shine for you?

Were the waves this gentle, this
soft aqua blue? Did the color match
her eyes when she squinted in the
sun at you?

While in the tropical forests
did your thoughts from time to time
run a magic zip-line to these
green-brown eyes of mine?

Did you envision me there or did
you feel Us oceans apart, while
you were in my own dreams of
the sea, and in my heart?

What do you now see? Tell me.

I like the tropical forest reference- it is refreshing to me for some reason. I like the shell reference too- Conch's are beautiful-thanks.

i had this image of myself just after i started running for fitness of taking the opportunity of one of my infrequent visits to the office based near the sea (about 10 miles away) to run Chariots-Of-Fire style down the golden sands

Only when i got there it was all pebbles and full of people and impossible to run without falling in the water

But i'd love to live near water. When you look out at the ocean i think it reminds you of what a great and wonderful world we share - and our place in it - and even the fact that we are all connected by that water in some way

and i guess its that connection that your poem reminded me of the most - two people on opposite sides of the world looking out at the same ocean and seeing their own private wonders

Ah, the opposing forces, sea and forest, pulling different ways. I read the tags too, and smiled at "I need a vacation."

Get yourself to the sea, and rebound!

I like the magic zip line and really like the ending stand-alone line.

I hope you'll come to my blog and see my/our big news about our book!

izzy~ Thank you for your sweet comment. I always love your visits.

Pixies~ Your thoughts added such depth to the poem, and I loved them, and I thank you for them. (Certainly, anyone who has ever run has thought of that movie and its theme song as inspiration at least once. I had a friend who played it every morning after he got up, to get him ready for his run. He was obsessed!)

rosaria~ Yes, those opposing forces get me sometimes. I was truly stunned, excited, and very honored by your invitation...and I just may take you up on that sometime this summer, provided I can treat you to dinner out. Oh, and I would want to pet your kitty, of course. Thank you so much!

Tess~ It was a beautiful photo prompt, Tess. Thank you for mentioning that one line, as it came as a last-minute edit.

Fireblossom~ Well, as you know I headed right over to find out about the book(s) and it is just such exciting news. Congratulations abounding! Makes me feel like celebrating on a zip line. :)

I felt like there was a struggle going on...a bit of jealousy, insecurity.
