Friday Flash 55 — bad day at the spa

At public baths for some relaxation,
many others there on vacation.
Sitting on a curved edge so slick,
she had to push with her feet to stick.
Her back began to itch and tingle —
Crap! No day to stay and mingle.
She sat a minute more and glowered,
went to the dressing room and showered.

Written for Friday Flash 55 - My post in exactly 55 words - for the G-Man.

Lydia Dear...
Whatever inspired this tale I don't want to know.
You are the Queen of Clever
Loved your crappy day 55
You always make me proud
Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass Week End...G

Easy to see why she was annoyed, AND she had to keep hold of her wrap. Great 55.

I couldn't find a public bath relaxing. I'd be itching too.

Itching is bad, and that's all there is to it!

Great sketch of an uncomfortable situation!

so - i love both the image and the poem here, it made me think back to my old job where i still had gym membership and would go to the swimming pool after work and sit in the sauna by the poolside - if you ever have a cold i recommend sitting in one, especially if you can sneak a bit of olbas oil onto the radiator

There are still a few Roman baths in England and some have recently started re-offering the waters to the public, albiet not in the original building. The baths in Bath are well worth a visit and there's a small exhibit at the pump rooms in Leamington Spa (although much of the baths original rooms are now a library)

g-man~ What inspired this tale was the image itself. Do you not think she looks like she is trying to scratch her back?! Hope your weekend is great.

Doctor FTSE~ Indeed, she was having an altogether irritating day!

Vanessa~ Under the right conditions I think a public bath might be interesting, but I base that on my experiences with natural hot springs.

Fireblossom~ That's for sure. My year of undiagnosed itching a few years ago drove me about wild. I tested positive for allergy to nickel, and the dermatologist told me my "job" was to go home and figure out the source of my exposure. And he charged me for it!

Erin~ Erin, Erin! Haven't seen you for so long! Thanks for remembering me (haven't forgotten you either).

Pixies~ Thanks. Wow, so there are actually some Roman baths there. I'd really love to visit. As for saunas, we have a two-person sauna in a little shed in our backyard. Stupidly, we have not used it for a few years. I am half-Finn and love saunas. :)
