Friday Flash 55 — Wanderlust

Wanderlust by Andrzej Szczerski

If you have wanderlust
you're on the right track.

Here, the bells and whistles
of your life call in ways both
screeching and melodious. Familiar.

There, the Sirens call.
Listen to those faraway sounds both
unknown and ardent. Adventure.

In between, alarms compete with
the do-not-disturb button. Question.
Which one is the key to wanderlust?

Written for Friday Flash 55 - My post in exactly 55 words - for the G-Man.

Just have to include this song, one of my favorites by Sir Paul....

"screeching and melodious"

I like that. Then again, us Geminis like that split stuff!

I guess the ones with the most warnings... Wanderlust likes flaunting caution to the wind, right?

I can answer the question! Ignore the do not disturb button. Go forth. When needed you can wander into solitude xo

We're always torn, between the familiar and the unknown, the here and the there. Without adventure, though, we stop growing, stop wishing, stop reaching.

maybe i should have been a hobo living on the tracks of America, shouting abuse at strangers and watching the country fly by, or Johnny Cash with his boom-chick-boom like a train taking you somewhere rather wonderful

"There, the Sirens call. Listen to those faraway sounds both unknown and ardent. Adventure" - it calls to me and makes me think about all the above, plus that old quote from Tolkien that you have to watch it when you step onto the road as you never know where that highway is going to lead...

Excellent wordplay. This really calls to me. I especially like stanza 3. And thanks for including the song!

Lydia Dear...
The late are always the GREAT!
Very thoughtful piece of writing.
Especially those that are bitten by the wanderlust bug
Loved your late 55
Sorry I'm so late but I had a Fishing Week-End that was Kick Ass
